Friday, Oct. 21, 2022-SW Michigan-Beginning A Wonderful Weekend

Friday, Oct. 21, 2022-SW Michigan-Beginning A Wonderful Weekend

Currently 42 with an average wind from the SSE of 2 mph. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.69, Humidity 71%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 8:02 am, Sunset 6:50 pm.

Sunny with a high in the mid 60s. SW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the upper 40s. S winds 10-15 mph.

Starting today with a high in the 60s and building to the next several days. we’ll be comfortably into the 70s very soon. It’s going to be the perfect weekend to be out and about enjoying the Autumn colors. Not at all sure how many other opportunities we’ll be getting for such warmth and sunshine. Northern states like Michigan don’t take these October weekends lightly or for granted. Looking as far ahead as is possible for now, I don’t see anything like this coming our way again. I’m not seeing snow or anything drastic t in the other direction, either, but this kind of comfort appears to be the last. If you get the chance, I’d get out there and take advantage of it.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the lower 30s. L winds becoming S 5-10 mph.

Not there yet but heading back into some warmth. Look for very possible 70 degrees Saturday through Monday. We know it won’t last but we’re sure going to enjoy it while it’s with us. And it’s all thanks to the huge Jet Stream dip that had us firmly held captive finally moving on and releasing us to some comfort. Never fear, another one will put in an appearance, but in the meantime, we’re going to loving the temperatures for a few days. Should hit 60s tomorrow. Just knowing that’s leading into some 70s will make it all the better.

Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022-SW Michigan-Still In Deep Dip Of Jet Stream

Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022-SW Michigan-Still In Deep Dip Of Jet Stream

Currently 39 with an average wind from the WSW of 3 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 37, Barometer 29.78, Humidity 97%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:00 am, Sunset 6:53 pm.

Cloudy with an overnight low in the upper 30s. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

That enormous dip in the Jet Stream remains with us tucked right smack in the middle of it. The good news? That is going to change, starting tomorrow. That deep dip of cold is moving on and we will be well out of it long enough to have 4 or 5 grand days. Which, so far, is set to present us with a glorious weekend. Could see 70 degrees on Sunday. Granted, things won’t stay that way and the temperature will promptly fall after that, but in this little nitch of nice, we can be out and about enjoying the color and comfort.

Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022-SW Michigan-Windy and Wet

80% chance of overnight rain. Low in the upper 30s. NW winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 35.

Well, with the wind and rain visiting us, a lot of leaves will be down. Not, I hope a lot, because this weekend everybody with wheels will be out on the highway looking for leaf color. So far, the pleasant weather scheduled for the coming weekend is still in place. We never know, in Michigan, how many good leaf-peeping weekends we’ll get. The coming one qualifies as one of the good ones. Fingers crossed this wind and rain won’t mess everything up. In the meantime, bundle up ’cause it’s downright chilly out there.

Monday, Oct. 17, 2022-SW Michigan-Cold Rain Today

Starting to hear the words ‘wet snow’ or ‘snow showers’ being mixed in with our rain forecasts now. Not nice to hear, but it’s beginning to be that time of year. Won’t be long before the word rain disappears completely leaving only the snow words behind. For more months that most of us care to think about. Still peering ahead this week toward what remains looking like a nice weekend. Could be a good chance for a leaf-peeping drive. You never know when the rain/wind is going to make a mess of what should be colorful picture-taking opportunities.  Today would be a good idea to just stay in and stay put if possible. Wish I could do that. Unfortunately, I’m grabbing a rain jacket and heading out into the wet chill.

Sunday, Oct. 15, 2022-SW Michigan-Look For Cold Rain Next Couple Of Days

Sunday, Oct. 15, 2022-SW Michigan-Look For Cold Rain Next Couple Of Days

Currently 43 with a calm wind from the West. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 41, Barometer 29.82, Humidity 95%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:56 am, Sunset 6:58 pm.

100% chance of overnight rain with a low in the mid 30s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Temperatures the next couple of days will be in the 40s and with a cold rain coming you know that could jolly well mean a snowflake or two mixed in there. Not looking forward to the is in the least. Especially since I have to be out and about in it tomorrow. Yuck. Oh well, things change, could be a tad warmer, could be no frozen stuff showing up along with the rain. I’m thinking positive. At least this morning it’s chilly but pleasant with some blue skies showing up around the clouds. Enjoy what we’ve got while we’ve got it, I guess.

Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022-SW Michigan-October Temps Up and Down

Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022-SW Michigan-October Temps Up and Down

Currently 42 degrees with a SSW wind of 2 mph. Feels like 37 degrees, Dew Point 36, Barometer 29.74, Humidity 82%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:55 am, Sunset 6:59 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the upper 40s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy. Low around 40. SW winds   5 – 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

In spite of reports of stray snowflakes flitting about here and there. it’s a good chance we could be seeing some 60-degree days next weekend. October highs and lows are sort of the Autumn norm. Frosty nights, chilly days – and then Viola! a couple of warm ones tucked in among it all. I guess it’s all part of the charm of fall. More color showing up every day. Lots of gold, orange, occasional red. But still, plenty of green, so there’s lots to turn and drop yet. Finding days to drive around taking a look at it all, in and around the rainy ones, gets to be a challenge. But dry days coming up next week. Hang in there.

Friday, Oct. 14, 2022-SW Michigan-Chilly Rain More Frequent Now

70% chance of overnight rain. Low in the upper 30s. S winds 5-10 mph becoming W 5-15 mph.

More and more we will be seeing colder weather words in our forecasts. Frost, hail, snow…no stopping the progress of the season. Any warmth is to be cherished and the coming cold to be prepared for. Very possible to see stray snowflakes from now on until the real things arrives. Our cold rains can quickly turn on us and become something heavier. Time is flitting for getting ready for it all. These would be the day, October, to tend to business as far as preparing for the winter season. Will be with us sooner than most of us appreciate. I feel like we’ll be seeing more snow this year than we have been. Could be wrong. I’m hoping so, but it feels like this could be more of a ‘real’ winter. I reckon we’ll see as time goes along.

Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain Today, Tomorrow

Sounds like rain today and tomorrow but for now it appears as if Saturday and Sunday might be dry. There is that unfortunate mention of ‘frozen mix’ on Monday night but for now we’ll ignore that and hope it goes away. No ignoring the fact that chilly weather is upon us and determined to stick around now.

Keep that umbrella handy just in case.
