Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023-SW Michigan-Sunshine Weekend For Us

Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023-SW Michigan-Sunshine Weekend For Us

Currently 25 with an average wind from the SSE of 3 mph. Feels like 18 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.23, Humidity 85%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:45 am, Sunset 6:08 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 30s. SW winds 10-15 mph increasing to 15-25 with gusts to 35 in the afternoon.

Clear with a low in the mid 20s. SW winds 15-20 with gusts to 30 becoming 5-15 overnight.

We could see a high of 50 degrees about midweek. And we’d better hope that’s what we do get. There is a pretty big storm system making its way toward us and as of now, from that system, we’ll only be getting rain, maybe a dab of snow sometime Friday. However, if our temperatures were to drop into the lower 30s, we could possibly end up with a whole mess of snow. Right now looks like it’s warmth and rain for us.  Sounds like a much better scenario to me.

Friday, Feb. 10, 2023-SW Michigan-Looking Like A Great Weekend Ahead

Friday, Feb. 10, 2023-SW Michigan-Looking Like A Great Weekend Ahead

Currently 32 with an average wind from the SSW of 3 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 30.01, Humidity 85%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:47 am, Sunset 6:06 pm.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of snow. High in the mid 30s. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Mostly cloudy in the evening becoming partly cloudy. Low in the mid 20s. NW winds 5-15 mph.

Not especially nice today, but Saturday and Sunday look like nothing but sunshine for us. Should be terrific. Won’t be super warm, but comfortable. And this time of year, that’s good enough. And better. This unusual winter, month of February, continues. Does this mean we’re going to have to pay for it in March? I sure hope not. That’s going to be a wait and see situation. In the meantime, enjoy this weekend shining with the brightness of the sun.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023-SW Michigan-Chilly Wet Weather

Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023-SW Michigan-Chilly Wet Weather

Currently 43 degrees with an E wind of 7 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.54, Humidity 100%, Visibility 2.5 mi., Sunrise 7:48 am, Sunset 6:04 pm.

100% chance of rain. High in the mid 40s. E wind 15-20 becoming S 10-20 with gusts to 35.

50% chance of overnight rain possibly mixed with snow. Low in the lower 30s. NW winds 15-25 with gusts to 45 decreasing to 35.

It’s quite chilly out there and the rain is a cold one. I guess we’ll be lucky if at least some of it doesn’t become a wet snow. Bound to happen at some point before winter departs. For today, it’s just a good day to stay inside and dry. Our day-to-day temperatures for the next week will fluctuate from the 20s up into the 40s. Very changeable. Nothing drastic in view, at least not as of now.

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023-SW Michigan-Our Unusual Winter Continues

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023-SW Michigan-Our Unusual Winter Continues

Currently 25 with a calm wind from the S. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 32, Barometer 30.13, Humidity 100%, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 7:49 am, Sunset 6:04 pm.

Mosly sunny until about midday becoming partly sunny. High in the lower 40s. L winds becoming SW 5-10 mph.

90% chance of rain possibly mixed with some snow overnight. Low in the lower 30s. Light winds becoming E 5-10 mph with gusts to 30.

Our nighttime temperatures may continue to dip into something cold, but our daytime numbers continue to be in the 30s and 40s. At least for the next week and a half. We may see a snowflake or two mixed in, but thus far, nothing severe lined up for our area. February is usually the worst winter month, but this time around it’s not proving to qualify for that prize. I know it’s been different for other areas, but here, except for three big snowfalls, we’ve seen little of substance for snow numbers. For me, may it continue as such. I can’t really imagine we’ll be coasting on into spring without some major differences in our snowfall total, but this year it’s more than a little difficult to say for sure. Again, we’ll see what we end up with.

Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023-SW Michigan-Cloudy With Comfortable Temperatures

Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023-SW Michigan-Cloudy With Comfortable Temperatures

Currently 43 with an average wind from the SSW of 7 mph. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 39, Barometer 29.72, Humidity 93%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:51 am, Sunset 6:02 pm.

Cloudy with a high in the mid 40s. W winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 35.

Mostly cloudy overnight with a low in the upper 20s. W winds 9-10 mph with gusts to 25.

Be careful walking around in some of the parking lots right now. The melting snow has become ice and could be treacherous. Look for some crummy weather perhaps Thursday through Friday morning.  After that, things look good again. I’m sure we’ll be treated to some reminders every now and then that winter hasn’t gone anywhere. Hopefully they won’t be harsh nor long lived. I guess we’ll see how it goes. This week our reminders are coming Thursday and Friday.

Monday, Feb. 6, 2023-SW Michigan-Look For Some Sunshine Today

Monday, Feb. 6, 2023-SW Michigan-Look For Some Sunshine Today

Currently 27 degrees with a 3mph wind from the NE. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 22, Barometer 30.14, Humidity 91%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:52 am, Sunset 6:01 pm

Partly sunny today with a high in the mid 30s. SE winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

80% chance of overnight rain. Low in the lower 30s. SE winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25 becoming S 15-20 with gusts to 45.

Not a bad day today, maybe some rain overnight. Looks like a good week. Perhaps a chance of some snow showers on Friday, but that could become rain. Our temperatures are going to continue to be on the comfortable side. Nothing bitter cold or overly blustery. All in all, not bad for February.

Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023-SW Michigan-Clouds But A Bit Warmer

Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023-SW Michigan-Clouds But A Bit Warmer

Currently 37 with an average wind from the S of 7 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.72, Humidity 84%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:53 am, Sunset 6:00 pm

A bit of morning sun becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of drizzle and snow showers.  High in the upper 30s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30 in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy. Low 15-20. NW winds 5-10 with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Was a pretty early morning with blue skies and sunshine but alas…that didn’t last long enough. Nothing but clouds now. However, it feels so much warmer than it’s been, it hardly matters. We should stay in the 30-40 degree range this week and nothing wrong with that. We’ve had enough of the single digit temperatures. Might look for some snow showers the beginning of next week, but the temperature seems to be hanging in the comfortable range.  This coming week, for now, just indicates some rain now and then. Good enough.

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023-SW Michigan-Rounded That Cold Corner-Finally

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023-SW Michigan-Rounded That Cold Corner-Finally

Currently 19 with an average wind from the SSE of 6 mph. Feels like 9 degrees. Dew Point 10, Barometer 30.07, Humidity 73%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:54 am, Sunset 5:58 pm.

Sunny until midday becoming partly sunny. High around 30. SW winds 15-20 with gusts to 30 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight. Low around 30. SW winds 10-20 mph.

Still chilly this morning but it’s going to warm up. That Arctic Blast is past us and we’ll be recovering nicely this coming week. Just imagine, it’s going to be about 30 degrees tonight. I guess the outdoor critters that have been stuck in this bitter weather pattern are going to feel like they’re in another whole world now. I’m hoping we don’t see any more of those cruel numbers this winter. That was enough even knowing that other areas around the country had to endure even colder temperatures. Our share was plenty – and then some. So now, enjoy some sunshine and a bit of warmth. It’s easier to start thinking spring when your brain isn’t frozen numb.

Friday, Feb. 3, 2023-SW Michigan-Bitter Cold Sunshine

Friday, Feb. 3, 2023-SW Michigan-Bitter Cold Sunshine

Currently 9 degrees with an average wind from the W of 5 mph. Feels like -4 degrees. Dew Point 2, Barometer 30.34, Humidity 76%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:55 am, Sunset 5:57 pm.

Partly sunny with a 50% chance of some snow showers. High 10-15. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25. Wind Chill Readings as low as -12 degrees.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of snow showers in the evening. Low 5-10 mph. Light winds becoming S 5-10 mph with gusts to 25.

Bright sunshine but offset by frigid temperatures. That’s our Feb. 3 Friday. Hang in there through tonight and our numbers will be on the rise. In fact, we might even see temperatures slightly above normal during the next week. In the meantime, this is brutal cold and my heart goes out to those who have to be out and about in it for the duration. This is dangerous cold that doesn’t take long to create frostbite conditions. If you must be out there today bundle up and be safe. February is a cruel, cold month always, but sometimes it’s just vicious. This is one of those times. Take care.

Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Cold And Colder

Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Cold And Colder

Currently 23 with an average wind from the S of 4 mph. Feels like 12 degrees. Dew Point 22, Barometer 29.87, Humidity 90%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:56 am, Sunset 5:56pm.

Sunny until about midday becoming cloudy with a 20% chance of snow showers. High around 30. SW winds 10-20 becoming NW 15-20 mph with gusts to 30.

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of overnight snow showers. Low 0-5 above. NW winds 10-20 with wind chill readings as low as -4 to -14.

So, the furry little rodent proclaimed 6 more weeks of winter. Is anyone surprised? No. Dec., Jan., Feb…..these are winter months. That pretty much takes us right on into March no matter what Phil determines. At any rate. Look for bitter cold tonight and about the same for Friday night. After that we’ll warm up a bit and put those single digit numbers behind us. Hopefully for the rest of this winter but definitely for the next week or so. Personally, I can’t wait. I hate being cold more than about anything.
