Sunday, July 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Rain Will Clear Out After Tonight

Currently 73 with an average wind from the ESE of 2 mph. Feels like 73 degrees. Dew Point 70, Barometer 29.51, Humidity 96%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 6:07 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

70% chance of shower and a chance of a thunderstorm. High in the upper 70s. Light winds becoming S 10 mph in the evening.

Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Low in the lower 60s. N winds around 10 mph.

A rainy Sunday and rain due in tonight yet, but tomorrow and Tuesday will clear up and be wonderful. In fact, we’ll be heading back into some serious heat before you know it. I’m happy to see all this rain before the majority of the fireworks are let loose. Every year I worry about the wingnuts out there shooting off fireworks when things are tinder dry. Fires are a serious concern and yet too many people fail to think that far in advance. Not good. Anyway, this time around everything in our area, at least, are thoroughly saturated which should protect against accidental fires being set off.

Saturday, July 1, 2023-SW Michigan-Could Get Some Rain

Saturday, July 1, 2023-SW Michigan-Could Get Some Rain

Currently 77 with a calm wind from the SSW. Feels like 77 degrees. Dew Point 70, Barometer 29.8, Humidity 72%, Visibility 6 mi., Sunrise 6:06 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the mid 80s. S winds 10 mph becoming W in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the mid 60s. E winds around 10 mph.

Back on-line after no power due to Thursday night’s storm. Mighty happy about that.

Plenty of clouds today, still unhealthy air, but not as bad as it’s been. Reading of 106 which is still bad for those with sensitive conditions. Still and all, much better than what we’ve been dealing with. Could get some rain tomorrow but as of right now, Monday and Tuesday are looking fine and dandy with the possibility of rain returning for Wednesday and Thursday. All in all, not a bad forecast.

Thursday, June 29, 2023-SW Michigan-Smoke Still Lingering

Thursday, June 29, 2023-SW Michigan-Smoke Still Lingering

Currently 72 with an average wind from the E of 3 mph. Feels like 72 degrees. Dew Point 62, Barometer 29.86, Humidity 69%, Visibility 1.2 mi., Sunrise 6:06 am, Sunset 9:26 pm.

Partly sunny with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Areas of smoke through the day. High in the upper 80s. S winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25 becoming Sw 5-15 in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy in the evening becoming partly cloudy. 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the upper 60s. SW winds around 10 mph. Gusts to 20 in the evening.

Woke to a lovely thunderstorm this morning. Pleasant enough to lull me right back to sleep for a bit.

Our air is still very unhealthy with a reading of 209 this morning. There really isn’t any time schedule for this to go away. Those Canadian fires are numerous and steadily burning.

Mostly looking for rain over the weekend, but so far Tuesday, July 4 appears to be dry. I reckon we’ll find out, but so far, so good. At least for that one day. If the rain does materialize, it won’t be welcomed by all of those with a nice 3 or 4 day holiday outdoor outing planned. Sort of normal for Michigan. Outdoor activities aren’t always guaranteed to have grand weather. The unhealthy air, however, isn’t normal and that puts a crimp in anyone’s outdoor activity. Everyone needs to be cautious.

Wednesday, June 28, 2023-SW Michigan-Still Dealing With Bad Air

Wednesday, June 28, 2023-SW Michigan-Still Dealing With Bad Air

Currently 61 with an average wind from the SE of 1 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 29.94, Humidity 69%, Visibility 1.7 mi., Sunrise 6:05 am, Sunset 9:26.

Sunny until midday becoming partly sunny. Smoke and haze throughout the day. High in the lower 80s. Light winds.

Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of rain showers. Overnight haze continues. Low in the lower 60s. Light winds becoming SE 5-10 mph.

Although the air quality isn’t as bad as yesterday, it still isn’t good by any means. If you have a smart phone, there is an app you can download AirNow.gov. This will let you keep track of your local air quality. Just put in your zip code and there it is. In my area, the air is at 195 today, which is unhealthy. Check it out.

There is a slight chance of some rain tonight. Would be good if it happens. Some sites have us showing a small chance every day the rest of the week, but we know how that goes. If we get any, it will be welcome. But mostly we would enjoy some healthy air to be breathing. And you know the worst part of that? Canada has such a vast amount of forest, and their rule is, if the fire isn’t threatening anyone, they let it burn. Now as many fires as are in play there now, think about what we could be in for the rest of this year. It’s not good no matter how you look at it. Do your best to stay safe, no matter what gets thrown at us.  Heat, smoke, etc. We’re survivors, right?

Tuesday, June 27, 2023-SW Michigan-Bad Air Alert For Michigan

Tuesday, June 27, 2023-SW Michigan-Bad Air Alert For Michigan

Currently 61 with an average wind from the WNW of 4 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 29.69, Visibility 1.5 mi., Humidity 100%, Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Mostly cloudy with haze throughout the day. Areas of smoke in the afternoon. High in the mid 70s. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy with haze in the evening. Low in the lower 50s. N winds 5-15 mph in the evening becoming light.

Smoke from the Quebec, Canada fires are impacting the air quality in Michigan today. Unhealthy for all but especially for those with breathing problems to begin with. There could be a very slight chance of a rain shower today. Mostly we will have smoke and clouds to contend with. Hopefully the air quality will be better tomorrow so it might be a good idea to put off any big outdoor activities for the duration.

Monday, June 26, 2023-SW Michigan-Finally Some Rain

Monday, June 26, 2023-SW Michigan-Finally Some Rain

Currently 64 with an average wind from the SW of 2 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 64, Barometer 29.42, Humidity 100%, Visibility 5 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

100% chance of rain showers and a chance of thunderstorms. High in the upper 60s. W winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of rain showers and a chance of thunderstorms. Low in the upper 50s. N W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Wasn’t it glorious, the storm yesterday? Finally, at long last, some much-needed rain. And today, so far, a nice light rain falling. So blessed and grateful, aren’t we? Hopefully the brown things will return to green, and everything will freshen up and liven up again. A rainy Monday is a wonderful thing since we’ve had so precious few of them. We could get more tonight. The next opportunity now appears to be from Thursday on through the weekend, but we shall have to see how that goes. As of now, the odds aren’t great but they aren’t zero either. In the meantime, enjoy this damp day. Sometimes a bit of rainfall makes all the difference, doesn’t it?

Sunday, June 25, 2023-SW Michigan-Rain On The Way

Sunday, June 25, 2023-SW Michigan-Rain On The Way

Currently 73 with an average wind from the SE of 5 mph. Feels like 73 degrees. Dew Point 63, Barometer 29.61, Visibility 10 mi., Humidity 69%, Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

There is a 90% chance of showers with thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. High in the mid 80s. S winds 10-20 mph with gusts to around 30.

Partly cloudy with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 60s. SW winds 5-15 mph.

Go ahead and get busy joining me in a little rain dance.  Oh, go ahead. Do the best you can. Whatever it takes to makes these clouds mean business and successfully dump some much-needed precipitation down on us. This appears to be our first serious chance for rain in quite a while. If it materializes, that would mean later today, tomorrow and perhaps lingering on into Tuesday morning should bring us relief from our dry conditions. Let’s hope we’re going to enjoy having to haul out an umbrella for a day or two. Got your dancing shoes on? Here comes the beat…one, and a two, and a three, and…..

Saturday, June 24, 2023-SW Michigan-Look For The Chance For Some Overnight Rain

Saturday, June 24, 2023-SW Michigan-Look For The Chance For Some Overnight Rain

Currently 81 with an average wind from the W of 4 mph. Feels like 81 degrees. Dew Point 59, Barometer 29.83, Visibility 10 mi., Humidity 46%, Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:24 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 80s. NW winds 5-10 mph becoming W in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the mid 60s. Light winds becoming SW 5-10 mph.

Feels much warmer already than 81 degrees. Feels humid even though the humidity is supposedly fairly low. Some sites are saying we’ll hit 90 today and it wouldn’t surprise me if we did. I am hoping for the overnight rain, but my fingers are crossed that Sunday’s rain will hold off until after noon. For those trying to get in a quick golf game in the morning – here’s hoping. Seems to be a pretty good chance of some good rain coming in the afternoon. And boy, do we need that! Appears to be Monday giving us a chance for more precipitation. I’m watching too many tree leaves drift down right now and the sadder part is it’s likely due to the trees being so stressed because of such a prolonged lack of moisture. Do a little rain dance or whatever it is you think will bring us some loaded clouds – we need all the help we can get.

Friday, June 23, 2023-SW Michigan-Cloudy Summer Morning

Friday, June 23, 2023-SW Michigan-Cloudy Summer Morning

Currently 72 with an average wind from the WNW of 3 mph. Feels like 72 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 29.86, Humidity 57%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of afternoon showers. High in the lower 80s. NE winds 5-10 mph.

Partly cloudy with a low around 60. Light winds.

Still looking at some pretty good odds for rain coming in by Sunday. I know. Nobody wants it to rain on Sunday ’cause of all the outdoor plans – but boy do we need the rain. At this stage I don’t think we should complain, no matter what day the rain decides to pay us a visit. Just grab an umbrella and get out there anyway, all the while being happy to see the thirsty blades of grass and tree leaves gulping down the moisture. Could get rain on Monday and maybe Tuesday morning, too. All good if that’s what happens. Lawns aren’t supposed to be brown. Green is a much happier color. Some precipitation will help that become a reality again. We’ll see how it goes. So many instances we’ve watched these opportunities pass us by, but maybe this time…

Thursday, June 22, 2023-SW Michigan-More Sunshine And Warmth

Thursday, June 22, 2023-SW Michigan-More Sunshine And Warmth

Currently 72 with an average wind from the ENE of 2 mph. Feels like 72 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 30, Humidity 59%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the mid 80s. E winds 5-15 mph.

Partly cloudy with a low in the upper 50s. E winds 5 – 10 mph becoming NE overnight.

We’re in for several very nice days before some more than needed rain moves in around Sunday. Odds are looking pretty good for rain on Sunday, Monday and maybe Tuesday morning. Not nice to think about a rainy Sunday when so many folks have plans, but boy…do we ever need that precipitation. In the meantime, if at all possible, get out that and enjoy the great outdoors in Michigan summer. It has a lot to offer.
