Thursday, August 2, 2018 South West Michigan – Some Clouds, Chance Of Afternoon Showers

Thursday, August 2, 2018 South West Michigan – Some Clouds, Chance Of Afternoon Showers

Currently 69 with a SW wind of 9 mph skipping about but making no difference in how it feels – like the 69 degrees that it is. Dew Point, Humidity 86%, Barometer 29.95 & rising, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 6:33 am, Sunset 9:02 pm. Cloudy with a chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms. High 83. SW winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorms, becoming partly cloudy overnight. Low 63. WSW winds 5 -10 mph.

Not a bad morning going on. Looking forward to the opportunity for some afternoon rain, but it’s rather on the iffy side. We did get .09″ of overnight rain, which is good, but not nearly as much as we need. It’s bizarre with all the rain and flooding going on elsewhere, how much we need a bit of rain here. Mother Nature never seems to get things evened out. Wish she’d try harder.

And just saw a map of how many fires are blazing on the West Coast. It’s truly frightening. Now talk about needing a mess of rain! And there, it looks like nothing serious is on the horizon to help them out. Scary – and sad.

Wednesday, August 1, 2018 South West Michigan – Clouds Continue To Cover Sun

Wednesday, August 1, 2018 South West Michigan – Clouds Continue To Cover Sun

Currently 71 with a WSW wind of 5 mph hardly stirring the air so it feels like the 71 degrees it is. Dew Point 63, Humidity 77%, Barometer 29.93, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:32 am, Sunset 9:03 pm. Cloudy morning with the chance of a stay shower or thunderstorm, decreasing clouds in the afternoon. High 82. WSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with the chance of a stray shower and thunderstorm. Low 64. SW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Still no sign of the sun, but we know it’s up there, so good enough. And still no rain here. Other parts of the state got a goodly amount last night. My understanding is there were even some tornado concerns and flooding over by the Detroit area, but still very dry here. We could sure use some of the excessive precipitation that’s falling all over the place other than here. Eventually we’ll get some.

Tuesday, July 31, 2018 South West Michigan – More Clouds Than Sun Today

Tuesday, July 31, 2018 South West Michigan – More Clouds Than Sun Today

Temperature 66 with an ENE wind of 5 mph skipping about but making no difference, so it feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 61, Humidity 86%, Barometer 30.04 & rising, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 6:31 am, Sunset 9:04 pm. Morning clouds and sun will be come all clouds in the afternoon with the chance for a stray shower or thunderstorm popping up. High 82. E winds 5 – 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy tonight with that same chance for a stray shower or thunderstorm. Low 61. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Supposed to be seeing some sun out there among the clouds but no…hard as I try I see nothing of the sort. Pretty solid cloud cover up there this morning. There’s a better chance tomorrow and Thursday for a stray shower to pop up. Lots and lots of precipitation way to the south, but Michigan seems to be staying up out of the fray for the time being. Can’t believe all the rain the East Coast seems to be stuck in, they can’t seem to get a break. No such weather going on here, which we’re all happy about. We do need rain, but not as much as what’s falling on the coast.

Monday, July 30, 2018 South West Michigan – Some Clouds, Maybe Some Rain

Monday, July 30, 2018 South West Michigan – Some Clouds, Maybe Some Rain

Currently 63 with an ENE wind of 1 mph making not one iota of difference, so it feels like 63 degrees. Dew Point 60, Humidity 90%, Barometer 30.08, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:30 am, Sunset 9:05 pm. Partly cloudy with a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm. High 81. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

About the same tonight with a low near 60. NE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Just saw the long-range forecast for my area during the month of August – near or slightly below normal temperatures, which would put it in the 70 degree mark. Not a bad thought. Not hot, not cold, just comfortable? Who could possibly argue with that? Certainly not me. The very thought of not having to use the A/C for the month is a delight. Windows open, breezes blowing in? Perfect. Now we’ll see how close that prediction comes.

Sunday, July 29, 2018 South West Michigan – Perfect Summer Weather

Sunday, July 29, 2018 South West Michigan – Perfect Summer Weather

Currently 72  with a SE wind of 3 mph flitting about and leaving it to feel like 72 degrees. Dew Point 57, Humidity 60%, Barometer 30.11 & falling, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:29 am, Sunset 9:07 pm. Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower. High 79. SW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a slight chance of rain. Low 58. Light and variable winds.

This is about as perfect as summer weather can get. Chilly enough during the night where A/C or fans are not needed, cool mornings and ideal daytime temperatures. This is a wonderful system we’re experiencing right now. A couple of chances for a bit of rain coming up this week but other than that, no end in sight for this delightful summer weather – at least not for the foreseeable future. Can’t ask for more than this.

Saturday, July 28, 2018 South West Michigan – Pleasant Weekend Weather

Saturday, July 28, 2018 South West Michigan – Pleasant Weekend Weather

Currently 65 with a WNW wind of 5 mph leaving it to feel like 65 degrees. Dew Point 57, Humidity 75%, Barometer 30.10 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:28 am, Sunset 9:08 pm. Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower. High 78. WNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 56. W winds 5 – 10 mph.

Nights are about perfect for sleeping lately and mornings are just a tad on the cool side. Very pleasant, very enjoyable.  The weather pattern ahead of us for the next week look to be about the same. So nice not to have the A/C blasting…I haven’t even had a fan on lately. There’s no way to complain about this kind of summer weather. It’s almost ideal. Works for me, anyway.

Friday, July 27, 2018 South West Michigan – Rain Mostly Eliminated From Forecast

Friday, July 27, 2018 South West Michigan – Rain Mostly Eliminated From Forecast

Currently 64 with a W wind of 7 mph skirting around the issue and leaving that 64 to be exactly how it feels. Dew Point 60, Humidity 87%, Barometer 29.99 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:27 am, Sunset 9:09 pm. Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower. High 73. WNW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Generally clear tonight, low 56. W winds 10 – 15 mph.

OK – so the rain seems to have been taken out of our forecast, leaving only a slight chance for a rain drop or two. That’s alright for me today because I have chasing around to do and would rather not drive about in the rain. However, the fact is that we could use more rain. It’s been a heck of a dry summer this time around. By now everyone is thinking and hoping we’re not going to be paying for it with more snow during the winter season. We’ll see, I reckon. What ever comes, or doesn’t, will do so in spite of how much we worry or fret. In the meantime, I’m out and about in the so far dry morning.

Thursday, July 26, 2018 South West Michigan – Lots Of Clouds Today

Thursday, July 26, 2018 South West Michigan – Lots Of Clouds Today

Currently 67 with a W wind of 11 mph not making any difference, so it feels like the 67 degrees it is. Dew Point 64, Humidity 89%, Barometer 29.83 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:26 am, Sunset 9:10 am. Partly cloudy today with a high of 77.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low of 58. W winds 10 – 20 mph.

Not much going on today. The rain we expected today seems to have decided to come around tomorrow. Not so handy for my plans, but then nobody asks for my input in the matter, so whatever happens, happens. At least the outrageous heat we were dealing with for far too long seems to have fled the scene. And I’d be surprised to see anything like that come back for us this summer. Like I said, I have no say-so in the matter, but that’s my guess, anyway.

Wednesday, July 25, 2018 South West Michigan – Foggy Morning, Sunny Afternoon

Wednesday, July 25, 2018 South West Michigan – Foggy Morning, Sunny Afternoon

Currently 67 with an average wind from the N of 4 mph skipping over the entire situation, leaving it to feel like 67 degrees. Dew Point 66, Humidity 97%, Barometer 29.97 & rising, Visibility 6 mi, Sunrise 6:25 am, Sunset 9:11 pm. Morning fog and clouds will give way to a mostly sunny afternoon. High 85. NW winds 10 -15 mph.

Partly cloudy early will become a 60% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low 64. WSW winds 5 -10 mph.

Nicely foggy this morning but the promise of sunny afternoon skies is dangling in front of us. Should be a lovely day followed by, hopefully, a nice overnight rain. Some morning rain tomorrow is possible, too, which will be good. We went through such a dry spell that any rain we get now we are still grateful for.

Tuesday, July 24, 2018 South West Michigan – Calm & Cloudy

Tuesday, July 24, 2018 South West Michigan – Calm & Cloudy

Currently 70 with a WNW wind of 3 mph making not one iota of difference so it feels like the 70 degrees it is. Dew Pint 67, Humidity 88%, Barometer 29.95 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:24 am, Sunset 9:12 pm. Cloudy – some decreasing in clouds during the afternoon. High 82. NW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Clearing overnight, low 61. WNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Feels sort of sticky this morning, not a breath of air stirring even though there is supposed to be a bit of a wind blowing. Last night was rather weird, too, without a hint of a breeze during the night. Just dead calm. Got up to sit in my favorite chair by my favorite window, wide open to watch the nighttime, and I was struck by how absolutely calm it was. If you sit long enough, there is usually at least a tiny breath of wind stirring about in the trees, moving the leaves about. Not so last night. And the calm continues this morning. Makes the air feel heavy and the humidity evident. So…that’s my morning. Heavy and humid, I guess.
