An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Friday, March 20,2020-SW Michigan-Plenty Of Clouds Maybe No Rain

Currently 36 with an average wind from the NW of 16 mph. Feels like 26 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.88, Humidity 89%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 7:44 am, Sunset 7:55 pm.

Cloudy with gusty afternoon winds.. High 38. NW winds 20 – 30 mph with highers gusts.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low 19. N winds 10 -20 mph.

The sky is jammed up with clouds and it’s a pure gray day going so far. The wind is still on the mild side compared to what is evidently coming our way this afternoon. If any hatches are out there they should be battened down before things get a little crazy.

Thursday, March 19, 2020-SW Michigan-Rain On The Way

Currently 37 with an average wind from the SE of 11 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 30.14 & falling, Humidity 91%, Visibility 5 mi., Sunrise 7:46 am, Sunset 7:54 pm.

Cloudy with a 90% chance of afternoon rain. High 52. SE winds 10 -15 mph.

80% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low 43. SW winds 10 -20 mph.

So far, it’s a dry day but evidently later on things will change. Might as well get out and about and tend to things before the rain starts. And yes, I’m still out and about tending to things. I’m having a problem with being made a prisoner in my own home. If this isn’t overkill, over-reacting – with a purpose of destroying our economy – I don’t know what is.

Wednesday, March 18, 2020-SW Michigan-Rain Moving In Tomorrow

Wednesday, March 18, 2020-SW Michigan-Rain Moving In Tomorrow

Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain showers. High 48. ESE winds 10 -15 mph.

Cloudy with some late night clearing possible. Low 33. E winds 5 -10 mph.

A small chance of rain today but a much greater chance tomorrow. At one time they have a mixed precipitation involved tomorrow. But now it’s been reduced to just rain.

Read there was a strong earthquake in Salt Lake City this morning. I don’t know if they are enduring the same situation as we are here – probably – with bare shelves in restaurants, places to eat closed, no library, movies, etc., but if they are, this is simply more added misery. Sorry to see any added unhappiness anywhere.

Think about this, folks. An unprecedented president has created an unprecedented economy in America and now an unprecedented response to an unprecedented virus is threatening everything. And that’s my thought of the day.

Tuesday, March 17, 2020-SW Michigan-Happy St. Patrick’s Day To All

The luck of the Iris will bring us sunshine today. Good thing ’cause the next 3 days are predicted to be rainy. Going to enjoy today.

I do hope people aren’t engaging in the media created frenzy regarding this Coronavirus. Come on, folks. We’ve had virus issues in the past. We’ll have virus issues in the future. We can and will survive this one. Use your common sense. Avoid crowds, wash your hands, disinfect. Refrain from being herded into a mob mentality by hoarding things. Get what you need, leave the rest for others. It’s called taking care of each other. It’s what we’ve always done in this country and can continue to do so if we stop paying attention to the faction that wants to destroy us and our nation. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay smart.

Monday, March 16, 2020-SW Michigan-Some Morning Sun, Afternoon Solid Clouds

Monday, March 16, 2020-SW Michigan-Some Morning Sun, Afternoon Solid Clouds

Temperature 32 with an average wind from the SE of 7 mph. Feels like 26 degrees. Dew Point 21, Barometer 30.38 & falling, Humidity 65%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:51 am, Sunset 7:50 pm.

A mix of morning sun and clouds will give way to all cloudy afternoon skies. High 43. SW winds 10 -15 mph.

Overcast overnight skies with a slight chance of a rain shower. Low 34. WSW winds 10 -15 mph.

Not a bad morning. Was woke up by a gang of crows in the woods outside my window screaming at each other. Not the most melodious start to the day, but hey…if that was their goal, they achieved it. No going back to sleep with a sound like that reverberating around the room.

I’m begging you, go to You Tube and watch How To Kill Coronavirus by Dr. Dan Lee Dimke. Great information regarding heat killing the virus.

Sunday, March 15, 2020-SW Michigan-Sunny And Pleasant Today

Sunday, March 15, 2020-SW Michigan-Sunny And Pleasant Today

Currently 28 with an average wind coming from the NNE of 9 mph. Feels like 19 degrees. Dew Point 20, Barometer 30.68 & rising, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:53 am, Sunset 7:49 pm.

Sunny today with a high of 43. ENE winds 5 -10 mph.

Mostly clear overnight skies. Low 24. E winds 5 – 10 mph.

The coming week, at least until around Thursday, seems to be about like today. Temperatures in the 40s. Should be a fine and dandy March week.

An interesting morning crunching my way through the frosty grass to feed the birds and squirrels. What must have been an enormous woodpecker somewhere up in the tree tops was beating it’s beak to what must end up as a thundering headache was echoed somewhere off in the distance by a neighboring woodpecker. Drum beating in turns. Not especially melodic but interesting. And on my end of the woods, loud.

Saturday, March 14, 2020-SW Michigan-Morning Mix, Afternoon Clouds

Saturday, March 14, 2020-SW Michigan-Morning Mix, Afternoon Clouds

Currently 32 with an average wind from the N of 5 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 20, Barometer 30.54 & rising, Humidity 61%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:55 am, Sunset 7:48 pm.

Morning mix of sun and clouds becoming solid clouds in the afternoon. High 39. N winds 5 -10 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy overnight. Low 26. NNE winds 5 – 10 mph.

We have some rain showing up later in the week. Then past that perhaps a bit of snow mixing in once in awhile. Won’t amount to anything and may not happen at all, but the thought is there. Still a decent month of March so far.

Friday, March 13, 2020-SW Michigan-No Rain For Next Week – Maybe

Friday, March 13, 2020-SW Michigan-No Rain For Next Week – Maybe

Currently 36 with an average wind from the W of 21 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 21, Barometer 30.01 & rising, Humidity 53%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:56 am, Sunset 7:46 pm.

Partly cloudy with temperatures holding steady in the upper 30s. W winds 20 -30 mph with higher gusts possible.

Partly cloudy. Low 28. WNW winds 10 -20 mph.

Well, so today’s peek at the week ahead indicates no rain. That’s today’s version anyway. Every day a new surprise. In the meantime, I’ll take this Friday the 13th as a dry but cool day. And as I now see it, the shortage of toilet paper in the stores today isn’t the result of the elected Democrats and our broken, unprofessional media attempting to create mass hysteria, it’s Friday the 13th to blame. OK.  Got it.

Thursday, March 12, 2020-SW Michigan-Clouds But Not Much Rain Expected

Thursday, March 12, 2020-SW Michigan-Clouds But Not Much Rain Expected

Currently 39 with an average wind from the SE of 7 mph. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 36, Barometer 29.92 & falling, Humidity 89%, Visibility 5 mi., Sunrise 7:58 am, Sunset 7:45 pm.

70% chance of overnight rain showers. Low 33. S winds shifting to the WNW 15 -25 mph with higher gusts possible.

The sky looks rather gloomy this morning but the chance of rain seems small. Actually for the next 4 or 5 days there’s not much chance of rain now. Day by day the forecast changes. Exciting every morning waking up to see what changes have been wrought overnight. Rain forecast comes and goes.

Wednesday, March 11, 2020-SW Michigan-A Couple Of Messy Days

Wednesday, March 11, 2020-SW Michigan-A Couple Of Messy Days

Currently 34 with an average wind from the SSE of 4 mph. Feels like 31 degrees. Dew Point 31, Barometer 30.09 & falling, Humidity 99%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 8:00 am, Sunset 7:44 pm.

Another chance of rain/snow mix tomorrow. Woke this morning to a light layer of snow patches here and there. I reckon we need to expect such things for awhile yet. No worries. It’ll all go away soon enough.
