An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Not for the next handful of says at least. Color us all happy.

A week of outstanding weather that is quite unusual for Michigan in November. My understanding is by Sunday we could hit 70 degrees. Hard to believe. It won’t stay there, but for this week, we’re going to revel in the warmth and the sunshine.

We’re heading in to our fine week of comfortable weather and with appreciate for it all. Been windy, leaves are piled up about knee high in places, but that’s par for the course. No point in trying to do anything with them until the wind dies down. Wish all of the leaves would simply drop and get it over with but there’s still – in spite of the overwhelming appearance of acres of leaves everywhere – plenty of leaves still stubbornly attached. Just the way it is, I guess.

This will be the last chilly day for about a week. After today we’re in for a week of 50-60 degree days. Should be a great handful of days. Looking forward to it. Yesterday was a bear. Windy, snowy…an altogether miserable time. No more of that for a little while. So happy about that.

An ugly little morning. Spitting snow and windy. Feels like winter even if we do have a rather comfortable week coming at us once we get past today, this is a taste of the season we’re heading in to. A great day to stay inside and watch the leaves and snowflakes flying around. And that’s exactly what I plan on doing.

Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020-SW Michigan-Chilly But Hopefully No Precip Today

Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020-SW Michigan-Chilly But Hopefully No Precip Today

Currently 43 with an average wind from the ENE of 8 mph. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 38, Barometer 29.85, Humidity 82%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:13 am, Sunset 6:37 pm.

Mostly cloudy today with a high in the upper 40s. NE winds 5 -15 mph with gusts to around 25.

Mostly cloudy in the evening becoming partly cloudy. Low in the upper 20s. N winds 5 -15 mph.

What? High in the upper 20s? Things are getting serious here. Looking ahead, it would seem that our Sunday, as of now, is expecting a high of about 39 with a wintry mix possible. This will NOT be a pleasant Sunday. And to think, this is just the beginning. Not anticipating this with any degree of happiness. As usual, put up with it and wait for Spring. Ah….but next week we’ll get a reprieve with some temps well into the 50s. Now that is better news, something to look forward to as we suffer through whatever Sunday brings.
