An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Partly cloudy tonight. Low in the lower 50s. S winds around 10 mph.

A lovely rainy morning. Woke to the sound of thunder rumbling around and it was so soothing I evidently went right back to sleep. By the time I woke up again it was actually raining. Do you know how long it’s been since we’ve had a nice rainy morning? I’ll tell you. A long time. Got about .70″ in my rain gauge and for us, that’s a lot. Tomorrow should be a sunny day but the chance for rain comes back to us for several days after that. Wonderful. Hopefully out of the two or three days holding out the hope, at least one of them will deliver.

Sunday, April 4, 2021-SW Michigan-Happy Easter Weather

Currently 49 with an average wind from the NE of 5 mph. Feels like 49. Dew Point 31, Barometer 30.22, Humidity 49%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:19 am, Sunset 8:12 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the upper 60s. SE winds around 10 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight. Low in the upper 40s. SE winds 5 -10 mph.

A lovely Easter Sunday. Sunshine and if not warm, at least comfortable temperatures. But my how things change…now it looks as if rain is in our forecast for the next three day. Really? I guess we’ll see. So far our called for rainy days have made calls on other places and left us more or less dry.

I hope your Easter is all you want it to be and your Easter weather nice to go along with it.

Saturday, April 3, 2021-SW Michigan-Wonderful Easter Weekend Weather

Currently 44 with an average wind from the SSE of 4 mph. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 22, Barometer 30.13, Humidity 43%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:21 am, Sunset 8:10 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the upper 50s. SW winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 35.

Clear. Low in the mid 30s. W winds around 10 mph becoming light overnight.

Not terrifically warm this morning but it’s pretty and heading into the upper 50s close to 60 and tomorrow appears to promise us a 70 degree Easter. Quite good enough. A pleasant week ahead although we really as in need of rain. Might have a slight chance for that about mid-week but for now that opportunity doesn’t hold out much hope. The little green things trying hard to grow really could use some rain to help them lift from their winter hibernation. Wouldn’t a nice rainy day be pleasant? Not probably going to happen but it sound nice.

Friday, April 2, 2021-SW Michigan-Chilly today Warming Back Up Tomorrow

Currently 33 with an average wind from the SSW of 1 mph. Feels like 33 degrees. Dew Point 15, Barometer 30.53, Humidity 47%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:23 am, Sunset 8:09 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 40s. W winds around 10 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the lower 30s. S winds 5-15mph with gusts to 25 in the evening.

Still chilly today but warming back up tomorrow to nearer where we want it to be. Better still on Easter Sunday. So we just need to get through this nippy day and move forward into Spring. A little set-back isn’t all that hard to take but knowing it’s only temporary makes it easier. Hopefully the nights of freezing temperatures are finished. The last couple of nights created a miniature skating rink of my bird bath. So onward to better and warmer days and night. Looking forward to it.

Thursday, April 1, 2021, SW Michigan-Grab Your Winter Jacket

Thursday, April 1, 2021, SW Michigan-Grab Your Winter Jacket

Currently 24 with an average wind from the W of 8 mph. Feels like 15 degrees. Dew Point 18, Barometer 30.35, Humidity 76%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:24 am, Sunset 8:08 pm.

Partly sunny this morning with a 20% chance of some snow flakes until about midday becoming mostly sunny. High in the upper 30s. N winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 30.

Clear overnight skies. Low 15-20.NW around 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening becoming light as the night continues.

Okay, so it’s the 1st of April, but when you step outside this morning you’re going to question that. Be sure to wear a warm jacket today – and probably tomorrow – but after that a warm up helps us think we’re really in the month of April. Dangerous to growing things cold is going to cover way too much of our nation tonight. Hard frost isn’t a good thing to hear when so many folks have flats and flats of beautiful growing flowers out on display. I’m sure there will be some serious hustling as covers of various sorts are hauled out and used to try and protect the tender growth. Unfortunately this isn’t an April Fool’s Joke – well, maybe on the part of Mother Nature who can be more than a tad inappropriate and unappreciated from time to time. This is one of those times.

Wednesday, March 31, 2021-SW Michigan-Couple Of Cold Days & Nights

Wednesday, March 31, 2021-SW Michigan-Couple Of Cold Days & Nights

Currently 37 with an average wind from the WSW of 7 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.05, Humidity 58%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:26 am, Sunset 8:07 pm.

Mostly sunny becoming partly sunny with a high only in the lower 40s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of evening snow showers. Low in the lower 20s. NW winds 10-15 mph.

Well, it’s not feeling Spring-like out there this morning. It’s darn nippy and with the wind it feels even more so. Tomorrow, ushering in April, is promising to be a beastly little dab of misery, too. Should warm up promptly after that but in the meantime… You know what’s funny? I looked way, way ahead to the first of May and from here it looks like that month is going to take a dip in the temperatures and come in crummy, too. Of course, since we all know our weather can change from day to day, there’s no guarantee that will materialize, but it looks like an unhappy little pattern setting up for now. Hopefully that won’t happen. By the end of April, nobody wants to see chilly weather move in – even for a day or two. I don’t even want to see it now :>)

Tuesday, March 30, 2021-SW Michigan-April Will Come In Chilly

Tuesday, March 30, 2021-SW Michigan-April Will Come In Chilly

Currently 51 with an average wind from the SW of 10 mph. Feels like 51 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.8, Humidity 49%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 8:06 pm.

Mostly sunny until about midday becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain showers. High in the mid 60s. SW winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 40.

70% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the lower 30s. N W winds 5 -15 mph with gusts to 25.

Not a bad morning. A tad breezy but comfortable enough temperature-wise. Unfortunately, the next several days will not be quite so nice as the daytime temps are going to tumble a good 20+ degrees in the wrong direction. Never fear though because by Saturday things will be looking up and the temperatures will be doing a much better job of being Spring-like. Just need to keep your jacket handy in the meantime.

Monday, March 29, 2021-SW Michigan-A Few Chilly Days Before Warming Back Up

Monday, March 29, 2021-SW Michigan-A Few Chilly Days Before Warming Back Up

Currently 38 with an average wind from the SE of 4 mph. Feels like 38 degrees. Dew Point 27, Barometer 30.18, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:30 am, Sunset 8:05 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the mid 50s. S winds 5 -10 mph increasing to 15-20 in the afternoon.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the mid 40s. S winds 15-20 mph.

The next couple of days and nights are going to be chilly but after that it will warm right up where it will feel comfortable outside – and only get better from there. So far the month of April for us here in the SW space in Michigan is looks great.

I know there aren’t many left but we do still have one now small left over of a snow mountain from where it was shoveled into one spot-a place where the sun never shines on it and we haven’t really had enough rain to take it all away. It’s dwindling, dirty and miserable looking and once the weather gets back into the warmer range it won’t take long for it to completely vanish. Looking forward to it. I don’t want to see even a smidgen of winter left.

Sunday, March 28, 2021-SW Michigan-Chilly And Damp This Morning

Sunday, March 28, 2021-SW Michigan-Chilly And Damp This Morning

Currently 37 with an average wind from the SW of 7 mph. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 37, Barometer 29.64, Humidity 100%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:31 am, Sunset 8:03 pm.

Mostly cloudy today with a 40% chance of rain showers possibly mixed in with some snow showers. High around 40. NW winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 35.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the upper 20s. W winds 5 – 15 mph with gusts to 25 in the evening.

So…A meteorological roller coaster of temperatures courtesy of Mother Nature. To be expected this time of year, I guess. Up one day, down the next. We’ll be up tomorrow and Monday, but down again the next day. Never fear, it’ll all even out soon enough. I’m just grateful for a month of March to finally come around like well mannered month of March should – not just growling through like a peevish extension of winter. I’m trying for patience although I’m mighty anxious to see greenery blooming. Again…soon enough. In the meantime a jacket and patience. That’s all we need for today.

Saturday, March 27, 2021-SW Michigan-More Rain Possible Tonight

Saturday, March 27, 2021-SW Michigan-More Rain Possible Tonight

Currently 33 with an average wind from the E of 8 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 30.09, Humidity 97%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:33 am, Sunset 8:02 pm.

70% chance of rain showers. High in the upper 50s. E winds 5 – 10 mph.

80% chance of overnight rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. Low in the upper 30s. E wind 5 -15 mph becoming W with gusts to 25.

It does sound as if we might end up with a bit more rain, which will be fine and dandy. Tomorrow sounds windy with a very nice week ahead. April 1 should start out on the cool side, but rapidly warm up to a great steady 60 degrees. Won’t be long before we’ll be able to see some buds beginning in the trees and shrubs. Can’t wait for the greenery to begin.
