An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Currently 66 with an average wind from the SSE of 1 mph. Feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 67, Barometer 30.02, Humidity 86%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:57 am, Sunset 8:31 pm.

Sunny with the possibility of some clouds moving in late today. High in the mid 80s. Light winds becoming W 5-10 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the lower 60s. Light winds.

Looking at rain tomorrow and next Monday. One of the sites I’ve checked is trying hard to sneak in some rain for Sunday but let’s hope that one is an anomaly.  Let’s think positive and imagine a completely dry weekend for a change. We can face rain on Monday, just would rather not look at Sunday rain. At any rate, today is a fabulous day with plenty of sunshine and warmth. Loving that.

Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022-SW Michigan-Another Winner Summer Day

Mostly clear. Low in the upper 50s. Light winds.

Today and tomorrow should be bright and sunny. Perhaps some rain but definitely some clouds on Thursday then no other mention of rain until about next Monday. As it stands right now, we should have a rainless weekend. Wouldn’t that be nice? We shall see but as of today it’s looking good.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the mid 50s. NW winds 5-10 mph becoming light.

A terrific day of weather for us today. Tomorrow looks promising too. The entire week, actually. There is a hint that perhaps a bit of rain could move through on Thursday, but if so, right now it looks to be very light if it does. Had some terrible flooding in the west. Looking at some very heavy rain moving through Texas and Louisiana today. Likely some flooding. That area is more or less used to heavy rainfalls being so close to the coast and the weather systems that travel through their area but coping with it has to present more troubles and woes than we’re ever subjected to. Like I keep saying, for the most part, we are so fortunate with our weather. We may not like some of it, but not much of it causes us major problems. Not looking for any weather problems this week, major or minor.  Mostly sunshine and comfortable temperatures.

Quite foggy this morning but that should clear up eventually. Not going to be the best day, expect rain. But look for a terrific week ahead. Plenty of sunshine and no rain in sight.

Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022-SW Michigan-Not The Best Weekend Weather

Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022-SW Michigan-Not The Best Weekend Weather

Currently 70 with an average wind from the S of 2 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 64, Barometer 29.96, Humidity 77%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:53 am, Sunset 8:37 pm.

60% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 60s. SE winds around 10 mph becoming light.

A fairly good weekend for planning on inside activities. Not that I think it will be raining all the time but enough, perhaps, to curtail some outdoor activities. Next week looks promising. Comfortable temperatures and as of right now no rain in sight. Currently even next weekend looks dry – but I wouldn’t get too excited about that. Lots of things can change between now and then. In the meantime, do your best with this weekend. Could be worse.

Friday, Aug. 19, 2022-SW Michigan-A Warm Sun And Clouds Day

Friday, Aug. 19, 2022-SW Michigan-A Warm Sun And Clouds Day

Currently 69 with an average wind from the SSE of 2 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 61, Barometer 29.93, Humidity 64%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:52 am, Sunset 8:39 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the mid 80s. SW winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20.

Partly cloudy becoming cloudy overnight. Humid with a low in the lower 60s. SSE winds 5-10 mph.

Enjoy today because by tomorrow afternoon this will all be changed into a rainy, perhaps stormy climate. And of course, Sunday promises rain, as Sundays always seem to do these days. Cooler this weekend and rainy. Pretty much tells the story. The sun and the heat will return next week, so just find something else to do other than enjoying the great outdoors for the weekend. Well, you might have tomorrow morning out there, but other than that…

Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022-SW Michigan-Plenty Of Sunshine Today

Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022-SW Michigan-Plenty Of Sunshine Today

Currently 62 with a calm average wind from the SSW. Feels like 62 degrees. Dew Point 63, Barometer 29.98, Humidity 83%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:51 am, Sunset 8:40 pm.

Sunny today with a high around 82. Light winds becoming W 5-10 mph in the afternoon.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the upper 50s. Light winds. (A good night to be out there watching the sky. Could be more colorful than usual)

Enjoy today and tomorrow ’cause the rain for the weekend persists in hanging in there. Lots of sunshine today and tomorrow. Not so much Saturday through Monday. Darn. For those who can, do get out and enjoy the outdoors if you can. I know, however, there are far too many people who count on the weekend for doing anything outside and they will be disappointed this time around. Why does it always seem to rain on Sundays? Still not much to complain about. At least we aren’t involved in the nearing record days of a heat wave parts of the west coast is dealing with. Miserable heat in the upper west with not much relief in sight for them. Fairly certain they’d give about anything for a cooler, rainy weekend in that direction. Then again, the lower SW part out west is dealing with flooding that we’re fortunate not to have to face. What isn’t facing floods is facing severe drought. All in all, SW Michigan seems to be a relatively pleasant place where the weather is concerned.

Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022-SW Michigan-Another Terrific Summer Day

Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022-SW Michigan-Another Terrific Summer Day

Currently 65 with an average wind from the E of 3 mph. Feels like 65 degrees. Dew Point 59, Barometer 30.11, Humidity 76%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:49 am, Sunset 8:42 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the lower 80s. Light winds.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the upper 50s. Light winds.

Our weather continues to excel. Can’t improve on this week and it’s unfortunate that the rain is still lingering in the picture for next weekend. Mainly Sunday and on into Monday now. With such a fantastic week of weather it does seem a shame that it couldn’t hold on through the weekend. Such is weather in Michigan, I guess. It’s the reason why anyone in our state who has an important outdoor activity planned always has an alternative location in mind should the outdoors fail to cooperate. Pretty sure that will be the case for any celebrations or gatherings for this coming Sunday. Maybe things will change by then. Fingers crossed.  In the meantime, keep an eye on that dryer setting just in case.

Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022-SW Michigan-Pleasant Summer Weather Continues

Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022-SW Michigan-Pleasant Summer Weather Continues

Currently 65 with an average wind from the E of 5 mph. Feels like 65 degrees. Dew Point 56, Barometer 30.08, Humidity 70%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:48 am, Sunset 8:43 pm.

Sunny. High around 80. NE winds 5-10 mph.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the upper 50s. NE winds 5-10 mph becoming light.

The Jet Stream has taken a dip down far enough to bring welcome relief from the sweltering weather for many states, for which everyone is more than grateful. It’s leaving us just about right where we want to be. Beautiful days of 80 degrees with plenty of sunshine. Cool enough at night for great sleeping comfort. Can’t get much better than this. Still looking at rain for the coming weekend right on into Monday. Wish that would slide on out of the picture but for the time being it seems to be stuck there.

Monday, Aug. 15, 2022-SW Michigan-Pleasant Week Of Weather Ahead

Monday, Aug. 15, 2022-SW Michigan-Pleasant Week Of Weather Ahead

Currently 65 with an average wind from the ENE of 4 mph. Feels like 65 degrees. Dew Point 62, Barometer 30.02, Humidity 84%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:47 am, Sunset 8:45 pm.

Sunny until midday becoming partly sunny in the afternoon. High in the upper 70s. NE winds around 10 mph.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the mid 50s. NE winds around 5 mph.

The week ahead looks very much like today. Lots of sun, some clouds and temperatures in the upper 70s, or around 80 degrees. It all looks fantastic – until, once again, the weekend. Right now, it’s still showing rain for Saturday and Sunday but let’s think positive and perhaps it will all be cleared away by then.  In the meantime, enjoy this week, it’s going to be a winner.
