Friday, Feb. 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Another Warm Day For Us

Currently 46 with a 10 mph from the WSW. Feels like 39 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.76, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:48 am, Sunset 6:04 pm.

Sunny, becoming windy later. WSW winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 40. Near record temperature of 51.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight rain. Low 33. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 25.

Another warm day for us today, but it’s bound to start on the way down. Look for a few days offering us some sunshine, but there is a very real chance for a couple of days next week presenting snow showers. Doesn’t sound good at this point, but it’s not unusual. This is, after all, February in Michigan. We’ve been given a rare few weeks of outstanding temperatures, but alas….all good things much come to an end. I don’t think we’re going to be seeing any more 50 degree numbers again for a while. But – we’re heading in the right direction so that eventually we’ll be really in that range. Personally, I can’t wait. I will, because I have to. But it won’t be with an abundance of patience.

Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Enjoy Our Above Normal Temps

Currently 46 with a 6 mph wind from the S. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 32, Barometer 29.91, Humidity 29.91, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:49 am, Sunset 6:03 pm.

Partly sunny with a 50% chance of afternoon rain. High around 50. S winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 35.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight rain. Low in the mid 40s. SW winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 40.

A few more days of these extraordinary February temperatures and then we’ll have to face a bit of reality. Next week’s numbers will be back into the 30s with a chance of a snow shower now and then. That’s what’s in the picture for now, anyway. This has been a remarkable run of high temperatures – not just for us, but for other states, too. Sooner or later the jet stream and the arctic cold will be shifting around and some of the colder numbers dropping down into our area. It’s been some kind of a February, so far though, hasn’t it?

Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Clouds Today, Probably Rain Tomorrow

Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Clouds Today, Probably Rain Tomorrow

Currently 36 with a 4 mph wind from the SSE. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 32, Barometer 30.21, Humidity 90%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:50 am, Sunset 6:02 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a high close to 50. S winds around 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a low in the mid 30s. SE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 overnight.

Just clouds for us today, but rain moving in for tomorrow. At least it’s only rain. I’d not be betting against seeing a bit of snow by the end of next week. I think February is going to remind us that it’s not a spring month. And it isn’t, even though we wish it was. Comfortable – for February – today and tomorrow but then it’s cooler from then on. Don’t be in any rush to put away those nice warm winter duds.

Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024-SW Michigan-A Few More Warm Days

Currently 36 with a 4 mph wind from the S. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 30, Barometer 30.24, Humidity 100%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:52 am, Sunset 6:01 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the mid 40s. Light winds.

Going to stay comfortable for the next few days – leading up to a high well into the 50s on Thursday. After that it’s all downhill. Back to cooler temperatures. And we’ll be getting some rain. This has been delightful, though, this well above normal numbers. Nothing harsh coming our way in the near future, but changes will be taking place. Still and all, for February, not all that bad.

Can look for possible 50 degrees this week, but don’t get too excited. By the end of next week we could be back into the 20 degree range. Not to be unexpected, after all, this is only early February. Early spring and all, winter is still with us. Maybe hiding in the wings but ready and willing to take center stage again at any given moment. Just enjoy the good days and bear with the not so good. We’re heading in the right direction.

Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024-SW Michigan-Brilliant Sunshine But Still Cold

Currently 37 with a 3 mph wind from the ENE. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 32, Barometer 30.11, Humidity 78%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:54 am, Sunset 5:58 pm.

It’s beautiful out there but looks a lot warmer than it is. Still feels mighty chilly. Hard to argue with the tiny hint of buds starting to show up in some of the trees, but I’m thinking they might be just a tad hasty. In spite of what the groundhog had to say. Yes – an early spring – but I’m fairly certain we’ll be in line for a bit more winter. This morning’s sunshine is more than welcome. And we may see a little more of it over the next few days, but then it seems to be back into the clouds. Perhaps some rain about the end of next week. No question that we’re all ready to see more sunshine come our way. January was one gloomy month. Heading in the right direction, that’s a plus.

Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024-SW Michigan-Clouds and Fog This Morning

Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024-SW Michigan-Clouds and Fog This Morning

Currently 28 with a 3 mph wind from the E. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.21, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.99 mi., Sunrise 7:55 am, Sunset 5:57 pm.

Mostly cloudy with morning fog becoming partly cloudy. High in the lower 40s. E winds around 10 mph.

Partly cloudy. Low in the mid 20s. Light winds.

Another rather gloomy day beginning for us. At least it’s not cold. Or snowing. Nothing spectacular coming along our way – which is a good thing. At this time of year big events could be unpleasant to say the least. We have a decent week coming up. 40 degrees…30 degrees…some rain. That seems to be the assortment dealt to us for the next week. Again, not bad.

So, the little rodent has proclaimed an early spring for us. Usually the little fur ball sticks with the tried and trued formula and announces 6 more weeks of winter. This time he’s trying to get with the program. Even without him guiding us along, we can look around – at least in my area – and see winter is fighting a loosing battle. Not that there won’t be a few more skirmishes along the way, but for the most part, spring is going to win this war. This is me, cheering it along. The less winter, the better.

There is no way to complain about the weather on this first day of February. With a little effort one could almost imagine winter has flown the coop. Not so fast, there, hopeful one. I’m almost certain it will rear its ugly head sometime in February to remind us that it’s still around. On the plus side, however, a saw a small V of geese flying overhead going north this morning. Were they a tad hasty? A wee bit fool hearty? Or do they know something we don’t? No answer here, but I can tell you the sight and sound of them was welcome to me.
