Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023-SW Michigan-Shortest Day Will At Least Be Dry

Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023-SW Michigan-Shortest Day Will At Least Be Dry

Currently 32 with a 4 mph wind from the ESE. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 30.41, Humidity 90%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Cloudy. High in the upper 30s. E winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 until about midday.

Cloudy overnight with a 30% chance of rain showers. Low in the mid 30s. SE winds 5-10 mph.

From today on, it’s all good. At least for me. We may only gain a second or a minute at a time, but gradually our days will get longer, the nights shorter and we’ll end up with more sun than clouds. Eventually. But now we’re heading in the right direction.

Today will be dry, and maybe Sunday, but look for rain most every other day for the coming week. Christmas Day will be a rainy one for us. No snow this year, but who knows what next year will bring? May be a White Christmas then. And we all know we’ll be getting snow soon. We have January and February ahead of us and we can count on snow showing up during those months. Just not this Christmas. Be merry anyway. Just with an umbrella handy rather than a snow shovel.

Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023-SW Michigan-No Rain Today Or Tomorrow

Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023-SW Michigan-No Rain Today Or Tomorrow

Currently 36 with a 3 mph wind from the SSW. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.35, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Mostly cloudy until midday then clearing. High in the upper 30s. S winds 5-10 mph becoming light.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low in the upper 20s. L winds becoming E 5-10 mph.

Looks like dry weather now for a few days.  Rain could set in for Friday and Saturday. So far, Sunday is looking dry. Unfortunately not Monday, Christmas day. We won’t be looking at snow this year, but rain. Different from last year, but then every year is different and unpredictable.

Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023-SW Michigan-Cold Snow On The Ground

Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023-SW Michigan-Cold Snow On The Ground

Currently 32 with a 2 mph wind from the WNW. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 20, Barometer 30.25, Humidity 70%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 5:10 pm

Mostly cloudy today with a high in the mid 30s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 20 increasing to 30 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. Low in the upper 20s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 30 in the evening.

Hopefully no more snow coming but the stuff on the ground isn’t going anywhere right now. Our temperatures should warm up into the 40 degree range eventually, with rain coming around Christmas, but not seeing anymore snow for the time being. Unless things chance, the entire week after Christmas is looking like one rainy day after another. We all know how quickly things can change but for now that’s our future picture.

Monday, Dec. 18, 2023-SW Michigan-Snow Showers Today

Monday, Dec. 18, 2023-SW Michigan-Snow Showers Today

Currently 36 with an average wind of 11 mph from the W. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 30, Barometer 29.64, Humidity 100%, Visibility 2.1 mi., Sunrise 8:08 am, Sunset 5:09.

Windy. Patchy blowing snow until midday. 90% chance of snow showers today. 1-2″ possible. High in the lower 30s. NW winds 15-25 with gusts to 45.

Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy. Low in the lower 20s. NW winds 15-25 with gusts to 40 decreasing to 10-15 mph with gusts to 30 overnight.

Yes, we have snow today, but it won’t last. In fact, the way it looks we won’t have a snowy White Christmas as much as a rainy, wet Christmas. Precipitation is in the future but our temperatures are expected to stay up high enough to preclude snow – after today, anyway. For those who enjoy snow, I’m sure today is looking fine. For me? Not so much. Just looking forward to it being gone. And if I had my druthers – which I don’t – it would stay gone.

Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023-SW Michigan-Gray Sky, Rain Possible

Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023-SW Michigan-Gray Sky, Rain Possible

Currently 48 with a 4 mph wind from the W. Feels like 45 degrees. Dew Point 43, Barometer 29.82, Humidity 95%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

90% chance of rain showers. High in the lower 40s. SE winds 5-15 mph.

90% chance of rain showers in the evening then mixed with snow showers overnight. Low in the lower 30s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

Could get a bit of snow tonight mixed in with the rain and maybe look for an inch or so of snow tomorrow. It won’t last because we’re still looking at some 40 degree temperatures coming this week. Not much chance, so far, for a White Christmas this year. Doesn’t mean we won’t get snow eventually, but just probably not for Christmas. Means Santa comes by helicopter instead of a sleigh. But never fear, he’ll get here.

Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023-SW Michigan-Looking For Precipitation Later

Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023-SW Michigan-Looking For Precipitation Later

Currently 46 with a 3 mph wind from the SSE. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 30.27, Humidity 59%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of afternoon rain showers. High in the upper 40s. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

90% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the lower 40s. SE winds 5-15 mph.

Looking a lot like rain coming in later and lasting through Monday. Perhaps by Monday mixed with a big of snow flurries. Our daytime temperatures continue to range from the 30s through the 40s for the foreseeable future. I’m not seeing any white Christmas for this area this year. Of course, we all know things can change, so don’t hide that snow shovel, but for the present no use of it seems to be coming our way any too soon. It’s a different December than some we’ve had in the past.

Friday, Dec. 15, 2023-SW Michigan-Mostly Sunshine Today

Friday, Dec. 15, 2023-SW Michigan-Mostly Sunshine Today

Currently 37 with a 4 mph wind from the SW. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 34, Barometer 30.47, Humidity 69%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:06 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Sunny until later in the day, expect some clouds. High in the upper 40s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Cloudy with a low in the upper 30s. Light winds.

Most sites are now trying hard to move rain in for Saturday night, Sunday…and on Monday, because the temperatures will be much cooler, perhaps a few snow flurries. Whether we get any of that is something we’re going to have to wait for and see what happens. As we all know, our weather can change in a heartbeat here in Michigan. Only a few days ago we were looking at nothing but clear skies with no precipitation. Now we’re not exactly sure that’s what we’re going to be getting. At least for this morning, we have sunshine.

Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023-SW Michigan-Comfortable Week Temperatures Continue

Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023-SW Michigan-Comfortable Week Temperatures Continue

Currently 34 with a wind of 1 mph from the WSW. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 32, Barometer 30.6, Humidity 77%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:05 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Sunny with widespread frost until midday. High in the mid 40s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

Clear overnight. Areas of frost. Low in the lower 30s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 25.

Our really pleasant temperatures are continuing right on through the weekend. There are still sites that insist on trying to bring rain showers in for early Sunday – and that may happen – but it will still be in the comfortable temperature range. Next week looks to be dropping back into the 30s, but still not bad for middle of December in Michigan.

Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023-SW Michigan-A Great Week Of Weather Ahead

Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023-SW Michigan-A Great Week Of Weather Ahead

Currently 28 with a 3 mph coming from the W. Feels like 23. Dew Point 25, Barometer 30.62, Humidity 74%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:05 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Mostly sunny. High in the upper 30s. W winds 5-10 mph.

Mostly clear. Love in the mid 20s. SW winds 5-10 mph.

Still looking like a fairly pleasant week coming our way. There is one site showing a slight chance of rain showers on Sunday but most are leaving us clear of precipitation. Some sun, some clouds. Nothing in the way of snow for our area for the coming week at least. Good as far as I’m concerned. Still up in the air as to whether a white Christmas will be ours or not. We’ll see.

Monday, Dec. 11, 2023-SW Michigan-Another Cloudy Day

Monday, Dec. 11, 2023-SW Michigan-Another Cloudy Day

Currently 34 with a 3 mph wind from the WNW. Feels like 28 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 29.97, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:03 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Cloudy with a 30% chance of snow showers perhaps mixed with some freezing drizzle in the morning becoming flurries in the afternoon. High in the mid 30s. W winds around 10 mph.

Partly cloudy with a low in the upper 20s. SW Winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 30.

Not a pleasant day today but the rest of the week is looking dandy. We should see some temperatures in the 40s. Could be so much different this time of year in Michigan. Doesn’t appear as if any precipitation is coming our way for the week. Would seem like a good week to be out doing some Christmas shopping or decorating.
