Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023-SW Michigan-Possible Afternoon Sunshine?

Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023-SW Michigan-Possible Afternoon Sunshine?

Currently 34 with an average wind from the NE of 3 mph. Feels like 31 degrees. Dew Point 34, Barometer 29.79, Humidity 100%, Visibility 1.5 mi, Sunrise 8:12 am, Sunset 5:28 pm.

Cloudy until midday becoming partly sunny. 20% chance of rain. High in the mid 40s. SE winds 5-10 pm.

Cloudy with a 20% chance of rain. Low in the mid 30s. SE winds around 10 mph becoming light.

Yesterday presented us with another welcome view of sunlight, this afternoon may do the same. Unbelievably appreciated. Looking ahead, it does seem as if the coming week is going to keep our daytime temperatures in the 30s, perhaps even a 40 now and then. Sooner or later this is going to change, and it will chill down to what Michigan winters are really like. In the meantime, enjoy not having to bundle up in layers and layers of warmth or to have a snow shovel firmly gripped in hand.

Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023-SW Michigan-Yesterday’s Welcome Sunshine Long Gone

Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023-SW Michigan-Yesterday’s Welcome Sunshine Long Gone

Currently 31 with an average wind from the NNE of 4 mph. Feels like 31 degrees. Dew point 31, Barometer 29.84, Humidity 98%, Visibility 1.8 mi., Sunrise 8:13 am, Sunset 5:27 pm.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of rain and snow showers. High in the upper 30s. SE winds 5-10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a low in the lower 30s. SE winds 5-10 mph.

Plenty of gloom out there this morning. Dark with the certain look of looming snow/rain. Watch for some slick spots on highways as the temperature is still low enough to allow for some freezing to take place.

Might get a little clearing tomorrow – but expecting another shot of sunshine might be stretching it. Yesterday was like a small miracle taking place. The afternoon sky opened up and allowed sunshine to pour down in plentiful amounts. Spilled into living rooms, pooled on patios, and painted everything with color not seen in many days. Not expecting anything like that again for a while. Appears to be more opportunities for rain/snow events. Nothing drastic around here but nothing special, either. Just January Michigan weather on the milder side for now.

Monday, Jan. 9, 2023-SW Michigan- More Clouds Overhead

Monday, Jan. 9, 2023-SW Michigan- More Clouds Overhead

Currently 29 with an average wind from the S of 3 mph. Feels like 26 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 30, Humidity 100%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 8:13 am, Sunset 5:26 pm.

Mostly cloudy. High in the upper 30s. W winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight with a 20% chance of snow showers possibly mixed with some freezing rain. Low around 30. SW winds 5-10 mph becoming SE.

Not only clouds but a chance for some snow mixed with freezing rain Tuesday and maybe Thursday. The hope is held out that we could perhaps see a sun-sighting on Saturday – but I’m not buying it. I think the sun, like the snow-bunnies, has fled to the south and doesn’t plan on migrating back into our area until maybe spring. Or maybe not even then.  At any rate, anyone catching a glimpse of sunshine should alert everyone they can so everybody can share in the experience. It’s become such a rarity, such a novelty, that anticipation for such an event is running high. Be happy we aren’t getting the rain that’s causing such problems in California, but don’t feel bad about being envious of the sunshine lucky southern folk are getting. Alas….I readily admit to being weary of our gray-scale color scheme already. Color. I need color!

Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023-SW Michigan-Surprise! A Cloudy Day For Us.

Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023-SW Michigan-Surprise! A Cloudy Day For Us.

Currently 27 with an average wind from the SSE of 2 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.16, Humidity 87%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:13 am, Sunset 5:24 pm.

Cloudy with a high in the mid 30s. Light winds becoming W 5-10 mph in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy with a low in the mid 20s. W winds 5-15 mph.

I don’t know. Tomorrow says partly cloudy but I’m not buying it. What? The report is we’ve had a whole whopping 5 minutes of sunshine for the month of January so far. Yesterday was supposed to offer us a peek at the sun but it bailed on us and gave us nothing but more clouds.  Looking for – what a shock – more clouds the rest of the week with an opportunity for precipitation in the form of snow showers at the end of the week. Frankly, I don’t care what it does, until it gives us a ray of sunshine to brighten our days and our moods, what difference does it make? One day is pretty much the same as the gloomy day before – weather-wise, anyway. I guess we can be proud and happy that nothing drastic is happening. That’s a plus. But at this point an bigger plus would be a sunny day. Man….

Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023-SW Michigan-Maybe See Some Sun Today

Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023-SW Michigan-Maybe See Some Sun Today

Currently 28 with an average wind from the NW of 4 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 25, Barometer 30.24, Humidity 87%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:13 am, Sunset 5:23 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a high in the mid 30s. Light winds.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low in the lower 20s. Light winds.

Not as much sunshine coming our way as was foretold even yesterday, but hopefully we’ll get a peek at some. No precipitation in line until around the end of next week, so we’ve got some dry days coming up. No real cold coming our way, nor any heavy precipitation in the picture for now. A comfortable start to the new month and new year. Can’t complain so far.

Friday, Jan. 6, 2023-SW Michigan-Lots Of Clouds Today

Friday, Jan. 6, 2023-SW Michigan-Lots Of Clouds Today

Currently 33 with an average wind from the WSW of 3 mph. Feels like 33 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.57, Humidity 100%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 5:32 am, Sunset  5:22 pm.

Cloudy today with a 40% chance of some snow showers. High in the mid 30s. W winds 5-10 mph.

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy overnight. Low in the mid 20s. NW winds 5-10 mph.

Another gloomy day today but tomorrow? Look for sunshine. No precipitation forecast for this weekend. At least not at present. A dry weekend with a peek at the sun? Going to be so welcome. Still looking forward to temperatures in the 30s next week. Doesn’t appear to be any cold snap or storms taking aim at us for now. January 2023 is definitely showing us it’s better side. Much appreciated, too.

Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023-SW Michigan-Could Get Some Snow

Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023-SW Michigan-Could Get Some Snow

Currently 33 with an average wind from the SSE of 3 mph. Feels like 33 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.79, Humidity 100%, Visibility 5 mi., Sunrise 8:14 am, Sunset 5:21 pm.

90% chance of snow showers. High in the mid 30s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

70% chance of overnight snow showers. Low in the lower 30s. W winds 5-10 mph.

Look for the chance of some snow showers tomorrow morning, too. This is likely Winter Storm Hudson paying us a visit. Doesn’t look like much of any precipitation after this round. Going to stay cool, but then again, it’s winter. Could be a whole lot colder than 30-degree days. So far, the year 2023 isn’t treating us badly weather-wise.

Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023-SW Michigan-Another Dismal, Foggy Day

Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023-SW Michigan-Another Dismal, Foggy Day

Currently 40 with an average wind from the SW of 2 mph. Feels like 37 degrees. Dew Point 40, Barometer 29.59, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.25 mi., Sunrise 8:14 am, Sunset 5:20 pm

Mostly cloudy today with  20% chance of rain. Areas of fog. High in the mid 40s. SW winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of rain/snow. Low in the lower 30s. SW winds 5-10 with gusts to 20.

A rather colorless day again today with lots of fog – again. Definitely have had our share of foggy days lately. Looking for some snow maybe tonight and tomorrow. Doesn’t appear to be much in accumulation coming our way. Maybe an inch. But nothing like that is ahead of us, so far, in the coming week. Our temperatures are going to remain on the comfortable side – at least if you consider numbers in the 30s to be comfortable. I guess I do when I think about what those numbers could be at this time of year in Michigan.

Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023-SW Michigan-Rain And Fog Today

Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023-SW Michigan-Rain And Fog Today

Currently 36 with an average wind from the NNE of 7 mph. Feels like 31 degrees. Dew Point 36, Barometer 29.65, Humidity 100%, Visibility 6 mi., Sunrise 8:14 am, Sunset 5:19 pm

Cloudy with a 100% chance of rain showers. Patchy fog throughout the day. High in the lower 40s. E winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 30.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the upper 30s. E winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Looking at rain today, tomorrow. Might be a small chance for some snow showers on Thursday and again Saturday. Nothing is certain except for the fact that all of that can change by tomorrow. Today was supposed to give us the opportunity to see temperatures in the low 50s. Not a chance in the world now. That warm flow of air from the south failed to travel up this far north. I guess that’s what makes observing the weather so fascinating. The constant changing with so many elements to keep an eye on. Air flow from the north, west, south…artic blasts and tropical warmth. We, here in Michigan have the Great Lakes to take into account as they are capable of changing everything. Lake Michigan as a great deal to say about the weather in my little back yard. As of today, we’re looking at nothing much more than rain and fog. Nothing we can’t handle.

Monday, Jan. 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Very Foggy Morning

Monday, Jan. 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Very Foggy Morning

Currently 36 with an average wind from the SSW of 1 mph. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 36, Barometer 29.99, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.06 mi., Sunrise 8:14 am, Sunset 5:19 pm.

Cloudy with areas of dense morning fog. High in the lower 40s. Light winds.

100% chance of rain. Low in the mid 30s. E winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

The Dense Fog Alert has been extended to noon today from a previous 10:00. Got lots of rain coming tonight and tomorrow – along with what will likely be record temperatures tomorrow. Might climb into the low 50s. Not our typical January weather in Michigan. Appreciated, though. Looks as if the temperature around here is going to remain in the 30s for the entire coming week. I’m sure liking this. And we know it won’t last forever. It can’t. Like I said, this is winter in Michigan. We know better than to expect this sort of mild weather for very long.
