Sunday, June 20, 2021-SW Michigan-Overnight Storms To Bring Cool Temperatures

Sunday, June 20, 2021-SW Michigan-Overnight Storms To Bring Cool Temperatures

Currently 75 with an average wind from the SW of 3 mph. Feels like 75 degrees. Dew point 61, Barometer 29.73 & falling, Humidity 62%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Mostly sunny morning with a 30% chance of a scattered shower and the possibility of an isolated thunderstorms. High 84 with a SW winds 5 -10 mph.

90% chance of showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could be severe. Low 63. SSW winds 10-20 mph.

If the storms come through tonight, it will likely drop our daily temperature for Monday and Tuesday down into the 60 degree range. Now some might consider that refreshing. Me? I’ll be just plain cold, waiting for Wednesday to roll around to bring us back into the 70s. Sounds as if some of tonight’s rain – if we do, indeed, get it – could be on the scary side, so just be ready in case. Not looking forward to the severe part but definitely to some overnight rain.  In the meantime, it’s a lovely day out there. Go forth and enjoy it.

Saturday, June 19, 2021-SW Michigan-Gloomy Sky, Light Rain

Saturday, June 19, 2021-SW Michigan-Gloomy Sky, Light Rain

Currently 66 with an average wind from the SSE of 6 mph. Feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 29.83, Humidity 77%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:24 pm.

70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the upper 70s. W winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20.

Mostly clear with a low in the mid 50s. NW winds around 5 mph in the evening becoming light.

Rain so light it was mostly like mist when I went out to feed the critters this morning. The sky is definitely on the gloomy side looking like it could offer a bit of rain at any time. Which seems to be the forecast. Not right now looking like we’re going to get a lot out of this, but hard to tell.  There does look to be a lot of small chances for rain coming up over the next week. If we’re lucky we’ll at least get enough to keep things green and growing. And be lucky we aren’t down around the Gulf Coast areas getting far too much rain. Balance of nature seems out of whack anymore, doesn’t it? All or nothing in too many places. I guess we can consider ourselves lucky here. We aren’t really stuck in either extreme. Hopefully, it will continue that way.

Friday, June 18, 2021-SW Michigan-Finally A Good Morning Rain

Friday, June 18, 2021-SW Michigan-Finally A Good Morning Rain

Currently 68 with an average wind from the ESE of 3 mph. Feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 66, Barometer 29.77, Humidity 94%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

90% chance of morning showers and thunderstorms becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. High in the mid 80s. SW winds 5 -10 mph becoming W with gust to 25 mph.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 60s. Light winds with gusts to 20 mph in the evening.

What a delight to wake to the lovely sound of thunder – and the even lovelier sound of falling rain. Been some time since that happened. We did get a welcome .60″ of rain in my backyard. After listening for a bit I got up to sit by the bedroom window and watch the dry earth soaking up life giving moisture, listened to birds out in the woods seeming joyful at the prospect of a morning shower. It was soothing – so much so that I eventually went back to bed and back to sleep waking up much past my usual morning routine time. Loved that, too. We have a very small chance for more rain over the next few days, but nothing strong enough to guarantee much in the line of results. We’d appreciate more should it come around, but I’m not going to count on any of it. We all do know things change rapidly in the world of weather, so we could end up with more or even less chance for rain. Not up to us, we merely take what we get.

Sounds as if down along the Gulf Coast they can expect a lot of rain again-mostly in areas that have already been undated with too much water. And to think this is only the beginning of the hurricane season is frightening. Prayers go out to everyone, once again, as hurricane season winds up and gets ready to play the annual game.

Thursday, June 17, 2021-SW Michigan-Warming Back Up Today

Thursday, June 17, 2021-SW Michigan-Warming Back Up Today

Currently 72 with an average wind from the SW of 1 mph. Feels like 72 degrees. Dew Point 46, Barometer 30.05, Humidity 39%, Visibility 10 mi.,Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 5:24 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the mid 80s. SW winds around 10 mph with gusts to 25 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy overnight with an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the mid 60s. SW winds 5 -10 mph with gusts to 20.

Although some places around the nation are still caught up in a heat wave, our last few days have been on the cool side – refreshing to some, downright chilly to me. Today will see our temperatures on the rise again with a pretty fair opportunity for some rain tonight and tomorrow morning. Whether we get the rain or not, we will at least be able to count on warming up today. Not heat wave warm up but at least back into the comfort zone.

Wednesday, June 16, 2021-SW Michigan-This Morning Was Chilly

Wednesday, June 16, 2021-SW Michigan-This Morning Was Chilly

Currently 69 with an average wind from the SSW of 3 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 44, Barometer 30.15, Humidity 40%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 70s. Light winds becoming NW 5 -10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

Mostly clear overnight. High around 50. Light winds.

Well, for me, I’m ready for the 80 degrees to come back. This morning my house was at 58 degrees. Now I don’t know about you but for me this is downright nippy. Tomorrow and the next day should be back in the 80s which will suit me fine. Sounds like a fair chance of some thunderstorms coming in Thursday night, which is fine, too. If it happens. We’re getting far too used to the rain missing us so I’m hoping this time doesn’t go that route. We’ll see. As we always do.

Tuesday, June 15, 2021-SW Michigan-Refreshing Summer Weather Ahead For Awhile

Tuesday, June 15, 2021-SW Michigan-Refreshing Summer Weather Ahead For Awhile

Currently 67 with an average wind from the N of 7 mph. Feels like 67 degrees. Dew Point 54, Barometer 30.06 & rising, Humidity 63%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:24 pm.

Plenty of sunshine today. High around 79. N winds 10-15 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 49. NNE winds 10-15 mph.

For folks who like their summer weather not quite as hot as what we’ve been experiencing of late, the next couple of weeks should feel about perfect. Nothing sweltering in view, maybe a couple of opportunities for a bit of rain. Should be the sort of summer many people prefer. No idea past that length of time, but for a few weeks we are in the comfort zone.

We did get a bit of unexpected rain yesterday afternoon. .15″ in my little backyard. Not much, but anything is welcome – expected or not.

Monday, June 14, 2021-SW Michigan-Refreshing Morning, Lovely Day Ahead

Monday, June 14, 2021-SW Michigan-Refreshing Morning, Lovely Day Ahead

Currently 69 with an average wind from the W of 3 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 56, Barometer 29.93, Humidity 63%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:22 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the upper 70s. N winds 5 – 15 mph.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the mid 50s. N winds 5 -10 with gusts to around 20 in the evening becoming light.

What a marvelous morning. The air is crisp and clean, the prospects for a delightful day are ahead of us. This is going to be a very comfortable week coming our way. Don’t see much opportunity for some needed rain, but also don’t see any smothering high heat taking aim at us, either. Should be a good week to be out and about just enjoying the heck out of summer.

Sunday, June 13, 2021-SW Michigan-Sunny Sunday With A Comfortable Week On The Way

Sunday, June 13, 2021-SW Michigan-Sunny Sunday With A Comfortable Week On The Way

Currently 80 with an average wind from the NW of 4 mph. Feels like 80 degrees. Dew Point 53, Barometer 30, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Sunny with a high in the mid 80s. NW winds 10-15 mph.

60% chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after midnight. Low around 60. NW winds around 10 mph becoming NE with gusts to 30 overnight.

Opportunities for rain keep on missing us. Except for a couple of good rains, we are getting nothing. This coming week promises comfortable temperatures mainly in the upper 70s, but it gives us scant hope for any rain. With SO many places around the country far over their average on rainfall it’s difficult to imagine we are so in need. But we are. In the meantime, this coming week will be one to enjoy some outdoor activities without worrying about heatstroke. Not bad.

Saturday, June 12, 2021-SW Michigan-Missed Yesterday’s Chance For Rain

Saturday, June 12, 2021-SW Michigan-Missed Yesterday’s Chance For Rain

Currently 63 with an average wind from the E of 5 mph. Feels like 63 degrees. Dew Point 63, Barometer 29.91, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:22 pm.

Foggy early with a 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. High in the upper 80s. Light winds becoming NW 5 – 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy overnight with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Low in the lower 60s. NW winds 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Slightly foggy out there this morning with a colorless sky overhead. There is a slight chance of severe storms for lower Michigan from 9:00 this morning through 8:00 am tomorrow. We totally and completely missed any chance from yesterday’s rain, so it would be great to get some today. Not necessarily the severe part. We could skip out on that but the rain would most certainly be welcome. Especially since there doesn’t appear to be a whole lot of opportunities coming up to get any.

Friday, June 11, 2021-SW Michigan-Gonna Be Hot, Maybe Stormy Later In The Day

Friday, June 11, 2021-SW Michigan-Gonna Be Hot, Maybe Stormy Later In The Day

Currently 82 with an average wind from the N of 2 mph. Feels like 84 degrees. Dew Point 64, Barometer 29.88 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:22 pm.

Mostly sunny with a 90 % chance of showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. High around 90. Light winds becoming W around 10 mph. Heat index to around 95 today.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low in the mid 60s. E winds 5 -10 mph becoming light.

Today will be a scorcher with a pretty fair chance for some storms in the afternoon. Tomorrow could be a repeat on a smaller scale, slightly less hot with fewer opportunities for afternoon storms. Our best days coming up-as of right now-would appear to be next Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures dropping into the 70s. Should be refreshing, if it pans out. Just keep cool and safe, get through today and you’ll be doing fine.
