We did get a nice overnight rain. Nothing loud, strong, wild…just a plain old rain. Washed away a lot of dryness and left a nice fresh smell to the air. Today should eventually clear up, at least partially, so a peek at the sun is possible. Temperatures will remain comfortable for the coming week. In fact, it looks to be temperatures only in the upper 70s, perhaps an 80. A very comfortable stretch of weather coming our way.

Wonderful to wake in the night to hear rain. Been awhile. Fresh, rain-scented air coming in the window, knowing that the grass might green up a bit finally. Marvelous. There is a small chance of more rain today, which would be just as welcome as it was last night. This may or may not come about, but I hope so. We could use more.

Monday, Aug. 5, 2019-South West Michigan- Hoping For Overnight Rain

Monday, Aug. 5, 2019-South West Michigan- Hoping For Overnight Rain

Currently 68 with a WSW wind 5 mph. Feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 61, Humidity 77%, Barometer 29.91, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:36  am, Sunset 8:58 pm. Sunny to partly cloudy today. High around 85 degrees. WSW winds 10 -15 mph.

60% chance of scattered overnight showers developing late. Low 67. SW winds 10 -15 mph.

A lovely cloudless morning so far. Not a cloud in the sky to litter up the beautiful Summer blue. Would be great to get some overnight showers, but not putting too much trust in the forecast.

We did get a couple of rumbles of thunder along with a few drops of rain yesterday evening. Just enough to draw me to the chair by the bedroom window, to rock and inhale the fresh faintly rainy air. Must have been very soothing because I fell asleep. Not long – maybe 10 minutes or so – but long enough to miss any other falling raindrops because by the time I woke up again, it was all long gone. I hate to sound greedy, but it sure would be nice to get more than a couple of minutes of light rain. Fingers crossed for tonight, but like I said, not exactly counting on it.

Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019-South West Michigan-Still Dry And Sunny

Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019-South West Michigan-Still Dry And Sunny

Currently 76 with an average wind from the NNW of 4 mph. Feels like 76 degrees. Dew Point 67, Humidity 73%, Barometer 30.04, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:35 am, Sunset 9:00 pm. Mix of sun and clouds. A stray shower is possible. High 84. Light and variable winds.

Partly cloudy. Low 61. W NW winds 5 -10 mph.

Not  drop of rain from any of the possibilities lately. I do see on the weather maps that they’re hitting to the north of us once in awhile, but then upper Michigan does tend to get more precipitation than the rest of us. Once again, we have a tiny chance for rain this afternoon, but it doesn’t look or sound all that likely. Another delightful Summer day so far.

Saturday, August 3, 2019-South West Michigan-Possible Precipitation This Afternoon

Saturday, August 3, 2019-South West Michigan-Possible Precipitation This Afternoon

Currently 71 with an average wind from the WE of 3 mph. Feels like 71 degrees. Dew Point 57, Humidity 61%, Barometer 30.09 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:34 am, Sunset 9:01 pm. Partly cloudy this morning with a 40% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. High 85. W winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low of 63 degrees. NNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

As has been the case all week, there is little to find fault with regarding our weather. It’s been about as perfect as it could be. We could use a bit of rain. I hate to see it happen over any part of a weekend because so many people only have these two days to be out and about enjoying nature, but hopefully, if we do get some later today it won’t be bad enough to disrupt any big plans.

Friday, Aug. 2, 2019-South West Michigan-Lovely Week Of Summer Weather Continues

Friday, Aug. 2, 2019-South West Michigan-Lovely Week Of Summer Weather Continues

Currently 65 with an average wind from the ESE of 1 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 57, Humidity 77%, Barometer 30.18 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:33 am, Sunset 9:02 pm. Sunny with a few afternoon clouds. High 84. Light and variable winds.

Clear to partly cloudy. Low 60. Light and variable winds.

Happy to be missing out on the massive amounts of rain hitting the south – especially Florida. Just way too much precipitation. We’ve really lucked out this past week. And it continues, or so it looks according to the forecast…well, no, re-checking, they seem to have moved a 40% chance of showers for us tomorrow. Well, I guess we’ll see how that goes. Other than that, nothing but lovely weather showing up. And staying very comfortable for August, at least so far.

Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019-South West Michigan-Feels Cool Compared To Recent Past

Currently 57 with an average wind from the E of 3 mph. Feels like 57. Dew Point 56, Humidity 99%, Barometer 30.19 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:32 am, Sunset 9:03 pm. Sunny today with a high around 82. Light and variable winds.

Clear overnight skies. Low 56. Light and variable winds.

How can 57 degrees feel so chilly? It’s a nice, comfortable temperature, but after our recent 90+ humid days, this makes you feel like a shiver isn’t far away. Looking into our future, nothing even close to 90 is in our forecast. Could we be free from any more such misery for this summer? Seems unlikely, but I guess it never hurts to hope.
