Saturday, May 11, 2019-South West Michigan-Cloudy, Chance Of Afternoon Rain

Currently 47 with an average wind from the E of 10 mph making it feel like 43 degrees. Dew Point 35, Humidity 63%, Barometer 30.18, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:22 am, Sunset 8:54 pm. Partly cloudy morning with a cloudy afternoon with a 40% chance of rain. High around 55. E winds 10 – 15 mph.

I know the forecast is saying partly cloudy this morning, but unfortunately the sunny part never had put in an appearance. Doubt it will. So basically what we have today is a cloudy one. With probably rain. Oh well…could be worse. And anything over 50 degrees, at this point, is great.

Chilly out there this morning and going to be more so overnight. I’m sure that most of the growing things are hearty enough to withstand the attack. I doubt that anyone around here, not this spring anyway, has bothered to put anything out that’s in any way fragile. Been a rotten spring so far, so pretty much everyone is expecting that to continue for awhile yet. We’ll see. But we sure could use a good, steady warm up here.

Fairly steady rain this morning with tomorrow and Saturday looking to be pleasant and sunny as a reward. Mother’s Day Sunday holds out a chance of more rain, but who knows? Our weather changes so rapidly by then we could be looking at another nice day. We’ll hope so. In the meantime, the little green buds need rain to help them decide to become grown up leaves.

It’s a rather gloomy looking sky this morning but that’s offset a bit by the light greening of the tree leaves beginning to look more spring-like every day. It’s going to happen like it always seems to, one morning we’ll wake up and it will suddenly be a green world, as if it happened overnight. There is nothing like the green of Michigan when it finally settles in. So many shades of green. It warms my heart and helps fade the memories of the drabness of winter.

It is starting to cloud up a bit more but still a thin, determined amount of sunlight is trying to brighten our world. Since tomorrow sounds like a fairly nice day shaping up, a bit of rain today and tonight might not be a bad thing. I guess we need a little of everything to help green up the landscape.

Sunday, May 5, 2019-South West Michigan-Amazingly Second Nice Sunday In A Row

It’s almost impossible to believe, but here we are, actually in the second pleasant Sunday in a row. A rare and wonderful thing. Sounds like a mess of rain tomorrow, but hey…if we can get through most of today allowing outside chores to be done, we’ll take it, and happy to.

Little spots of yellow are starting to burst forth everywhere right now. Dandelions are in full bloom and for those of us who find them charming, it’s great so see the bright color. I’m one of those.

Saturday, May 4, 2019-South West Michigan-Trees Barely Leafing Out Yet

Saturday, May 4, 2019-South West Michigan-Trees Barely Leafing Out Yet

Currently 53 with an average calm wind. Feels like 53 degrees. Dew Point 42, Dew Point 42, Humidity 67%, Barometer 30.03 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:31 am, Sunset 8:46 pm. Partly cloudy with a high near 65. Light and variable winds.

Clear overnight skies. Low 43. W winds 5 – 10 mph.

Our trees, like our flowers, seem to be a bit on the late side this year. Most trees are barely leafing out yet, and except for rare patches of daffodils and a few tiny wild flowers, still waiting for most of the blooms, too. Looking forward to living in a green, colorful world again. It’ll get here.

Cloudy becoming partly cloudy overnight, low 42. Light and variable winds.

Gradually some of the flowering trees are beginning to show their talent to brighten up our world. Not all of them yet, but some. It’s a late Spring, but it’s getting there. The coming week appears – for now – to be mostly 60 degree days and 40 degree nights. Could be better but we sure as heck know by now that it could be worse, too. We’ll be happy with it. Rain or shine…and it does sound like more rain than shine, but still…

Thursday, May 2, 2019-South West Michigan-Foggy Morning, Rainy Afternoon

Thursday, May 2, 2019-South West Michigan-Foggy Morning, Rainy Afternoon

Currently 44 with an average wind from the E of 6 mph making it feel like 40 degrees. Dew Point 44, Humidity 99%, Barometer 30.16 & rising, Visibility 0.7 mi., Sunrise 6:34 am, Sunset 8:44 pm. Cloudy with morning for. 90% chance of afternoon rain. High 53. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

90% chance of overnight rain. Low 45. NNE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Sort of a misty air thing going out there this morning with the fog. That mist should become solid rain eventually and that sounds as if it will keep up until tomorrow. Sure beats the – yeah, hard to imagine but – snow the UP is dealing with. This is the craziest weather year I can remember. A winter that refuses to turn loose and leave, flooding – monstrous flooding – going on all over the place, tornadoes spinning around…just Mother Nature spreading as much misery as possible. I’ll take our misty fog any time over the rest of it.
