Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 South West Michigan – Fall Is In The Air Already

Currently 58 with a NNE wind of 9 mph. Feels like 56. Dew Point 55, Humidity 88%, Barometer 29.99, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 7:16 am, Sunset 8:00pm. Cloudy with a bit of sun showing up later. High 69. NE winds 10 -15 mph.

Cloudy with areas of fog overnight. Low 51. NE winds 5 -10 mph.

Oh my but it definitely feels like fall here. It’s way too early for this. Not happy about it. I know, plenty of folks glad for the crisp air. I reckon my preference is for air to be a bit more soggy than crisp. Alas…

Watching Hurricane Florence gaining strength. Stranger things do happen, but as of now, it looks to be a strong storm slamming into the Carolinas. I’m hoping everyone is paying attention, taking precautions and making plans. I suspect, if it keeps to its current path, we up here in Michigan will be seeing some remnants of its being by perhaps next weekend for there abouts. We don’t really need any more rain right now, and I may be all wrong, but just looking at it, I don’t know how we can miss depending on how strong it becomes by the time it slams into the coast and barrels along. In the meantime, my thoughts and prayers are with those in its possible direct path.

Partly cloudy to cloudy tonight, low 54. NE winds 10 -20 mph.

OK, so lots of folks really feel like this is their kind of weather, they come alive in this chilly. Not me. I’m already nostalgic for the heat. I’ve already hauled out a light jacket. Although it does look like there is a small chance we might catch an 80 degree day around next Friday or Saturday, and I’m already anticipating that. Alas…definitely heading into my least favorite seasons. Woe is chilly me…

Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 South West Michigan – Chilly Weather Is Upon Us

Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 South West Michigan – Chilly Weather Is Upon Us

Currently 61 with an ENE wind of 13 mph. Feels like 59. Dew Point 55, Humidity 82%, Barometer 30.23 & falling, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:14 am, Sunset 8:04 pm. Mix of sun and clouds in the morning will once again become a cloudy afternoon. High 67. ENE winds 10 -20 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight with a low of 51. ENE winds 10 -20 mph.

Hard to admit that it’s already time to turn on the little ceramic heater in the mornings before hopping into the shower. Where did all that steamy, hot weather go? We all know how much of a fan of cold weather I am not. And I thought I’d appreciate it once it started to cool down, but I’m finding that not to be the case already. I hate being cold. Even chilly. Alas….

Looking more and more like there could be a hurricane slamming into the East coast next week. Remains to be seen. Plenty could change by then, but the window for that change is slowly closing. I do hope, will all of this advance notice, everyone is getting ready and prepared. There should be no excuse if they aren’t. They’re being given plenty of notice.

Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 South West Michigan – Cloudy And Cool

Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 South West Michigan – Cloudy And Cool

Currently 61 with an ENE wind of 6 mph. Feels like 60 degrees. Dew Point 53, Humidity 76%, Barometer 30.38, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:13 am, Sunset 8:06 pm. A mix of sun and clouds morning will become a cloudy afternoon. High 72. NE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy. Low 52. NE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Much cooler weather is bringing out the comforters for the beds, even some light jackets – those mainly because there are so many businesses with their A/C still blasting away, in spite of what the outside weather is doing, that it’s rather unwise to go willy-nilly out into a store or restaurant right now and assume you’re going to be comfortable. It’s the changeable season time, so simply be prepared is the best way to go through your days.

Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 South West Michigan – Blessedly Cool

Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 South West Michigan – Blessedly Cool

Currently 59 with a NE wind of 6 mph. Feels like 59 degrees. Dew Point, 55, Humidity 84%, Barometer 30.29 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:11 am, Sunset 8:07 pm. A morning mix of sun and clouds will give way to all clouds in the afternoon. High 74. NE winds 5 -10 mph.

Partly cloudy. Low 40. Light and variable winds.

The heat and humidity have moved on – the A/C is off. And I think it’s off now until next summer. Doubtful that any of the heat/humidity we’ve been dealing with will return. At least not on the scope we’ve seen this year. I heard we had nineteen 90 degree days. Now for my area, that’s a lot! No wonder it felt like the hottest, driest summer ever. I’m not a fan of winter, in fact, I detest that season with a purple passion. However, for the first time I can remember, I’m not entirely dreading it’s arrival. I’m thinking being socked in by cold weather sounds pretty darn good right about now. I will, of course, hibernate most of it away, but it’s been SO hot and SO dry here, the idea of the coming weather isn’t as bad a thought as usual. Funny how an unusual sweltering summer can do that.

Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 South West Michigan – Very Humid, Hot, Rain Coming Tonight

70% chance of thunderstorms overnight. Low 57. N winds 5 -10 mph.

Very sticky morning going on. This is going to be a hot, humid day. Should be our last one as a cold front is poised to swing through bringing us rain and cooler temperatures. Looking forward to that. Not the heavy storms, but definitely the chill down in the temperature.

Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 South West Michigan – Heat And Humidity Hangs On

Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 South West Michigan – Heat And Humidity Hangs On

Currently 73 with a S wind of 9 mph. Feels like 73. Dew Point 70, Humidity 90%, Barometer 30.18 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:09 am, Sunset 8:11 pm. Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. High 87. SW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight, low 71. S winds 5 – 10 mph.

Only a few more days of the heat and humidity and then things will settle down into a more comfortable zone. Fingers crossed on that, but for now that’s what it’s looking like here.

Keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Gordon way down to the south of us. In touch with a friend in Shreveport, Louisiana, who is keeping her fingers crossed that at least some of that storm makes its way up to her area. It’s been exceptionally, oppressively hot and dry there this summer and quite frankly they will welcome any precipitation they can get in whatever form it takes. I know it’s been hot and dry here, but nothing like what it’s been down that way. Sheer misery.

Monday, Sept 3, 2018 South West Michigan – For Labor Day Heat, Humidity, Chance Of Rain Lingers

Monday, Sept 3, 2018 South West Michigan – For Labor Day Heat, Humidity, Chance Of Rain Lingers

Currently 72 with an average wind from the SW of 6 mph. Feels like 72. Dew Point 69, Humidity 92%, Barometer 30.18 & rising, Visibility 7 mi, Sunrise 7:08 am, Sunset 8:13 pm. 80% chance of scattered thunderstorms today, high near 80. WSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

There is a 60% chance tonight of scattered t-storms. Low 69. Light and variable winds.

We just have to wait out a few more days and then, supposedly, the humidity will clear out, the temperatures will drop, and things will start to feel crisp and clean. We hope so anyway, as the humidity has been miserable. Looking ahead, things do look cooler. Not always dryer, but definitely less heat to contend with. Sounds good.

Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018 South West Michigan – After A Wicked Early Morning T-Storm

Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018 South West Michigan – After A Wicked Early Morning T-Storm

Currently 72 with a S wind of 10 mph. Feels like 72 degrees. Dew Point 70, Humidity 93%, Barometer 30.06 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:07 am, Sunset 8:14 pm. Partly cloudy with the possibility of a stray shower or thunderstorm showing up. High 85. SW winds 10 -15 mph.

Partly cloudy with a 60% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low 70. SW winds 10 -15 mph.

I usually love a good thunderstorm, but the one this morning about 5:30 was a terror! It parked itself directly overhead and didn’t move for far too long. Continuous lightening and thunder, so close that you could smell the ozone and the sound of the thunder so loud it filled the room to the point where it seemed to squeeze out the very oxygen. I was curled up in such a tight ball, but still managed to flinch myself even tighter every time the thunder boomed more ferocious than I’ve ever heard it. My window was open and it didn’t sound like rain outside, it sounded like I was standing behind a waterfall.  Just a vicious storm. We ended up with 3 1/2″ of rain. Of course, flash flood warnings all over the place, not surprising.

Once the storm finally began moving away, I found myself feeling sorry for those under it as the sound of the thunder began to fade into the distance. I fear as strong a storm as it was, it likely didn’t weaken as it moved along.

After getting virtually no rain for so long and then in three days the beginning of last week getting 5 1/2″, then another 3 1/’2″ last night…just weird.

Saturday, September 1, 2018 South West Michigan- Fairly Good Chance For T-Storms

Saturday, September 1, 2018 South West Michigan- Fairly Good Chance For T-Storms

Currently 68 with an average wind from the SSE of 7 mph. Feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 66, Humidity 95%, Barometer 30.02, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 7:06 am, Sunset 8:16 pm. 80% chance of thunderstorms developing today. High near 80. SSW winds 10 -15 mph.

80% chance for thunderstorms overnight, low 68. SW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Quite close feeling this morning, but it’s a fine morning none-the-less. Looks like there might be a pretty good opportunity for getting more rain today and tonight. 80% is nice odds. Tomorrow looks sunny and clear with another chance for rain coming in on Monday. For those out camping, taking advantage of Summer’s last hurray, that doesn’t look wonderful, but we’ve see so often enough here that the forecast isn’t necessarily set in stone. So they might luck out with 3 days that end up rain free. I guess everyone will find out eventually. Since I’m not planning anything outdoorsy this weekend, doesn’t matter one iota for me. I’ll be happy with whatever rolls through.
