Wednesday, August 15, 2018 South West Michigan – Hot, Slight Chance of Overnight Rain

Currently 74 with a SSW wind of 5 mph. Feels like 74 degrees. Dew Point 68, Humidity 81%, Barometer 29.96 & rising, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 6:47 am, Sunset 8:44 pm. A mix of sun and clouds will become cloudy with the slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm later in the afternoon. High 88. SSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

40% chance of scattered showers or thunderstorms tonight. Low 68. SSE winds 5 -10 mph.

We keep hearing about the chance for rain, but it keeps not happening. We really need the rain. Never seen so many dry leaves laying around on the ground this early in the season. It’s simply the dryness. They aren’t changing into the beauty of Autumn, they are simply giving up the ghost, letting go, and falling on the ground. It’s crazy. This has been the hottest, driest summer  I can remember. Not a fun one at all. Something not fair here. We has a rotten Spring, a Summer to hot to enjoy and who knows what we’ll be getting for the next couple of seasons. Weird.  I know. Could be worse. It’s so much worse in so many other places. Seems rather shameful to be complaining. But we expect SO much from our Spring and Summer seasons and when they fail so miserably to live up to expectations, a little complaining is to be expected. I’ll try to keep it at a minimum :>)

  1. Hi Pat! I see your report for today (Wednesday) is marked as a “Weather Report” so Charlie must have fixed things up properly. That is great news.

Not such great news is your continued heat and arid conditions out there in the Wolverine State. With Global Warming firmly in place, more seasons like this (extreme conditions on either end of the spectrum) will become more commonplace. The usual climate variations we normally have through the years will become increasingly muted in the future I am afraid of.

Hang in there, it will cool off and the rains will come back – eventually. Have a great day!

    Kevin
