Tuesday, June 20 Southwest Michigan – Cooler Weather Continues

Tuesday, June 20 Southwest Michigan – Cooler Weather Continues

Currently 62 with a W wind of 10 mph dropping that down a degree so it feels like 61. Dew Point 55, Humidity 77%, Barometer 29.90 & rising, Visibility 10 mi. After a sunny morning we should move on into a partly cloudy afternoon with a 40% chance of some rain, maybe some thunder. High 73. W winds 15 – 25 mph.

Mostly clear tonight with a low of 51. WNW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Hate to say it, but it almost feels like an early fall morning out there. Perhaps it only feels so much cooler if I’m still comparing it to what we were enduring a week ago. Maybe. But at any rate, it’s a little crisp outside. Sure has made nighttime temperatures fitting nicely into the comfort level for sleeping. Nothing wrong with that. Doesn’t look or feel like this will turn into a rainy afternoon, but then again, things can change quickly. We shall see.

Monday, June 19 Southwest Michigan – Delightful Weather Is Upon Us

Monday, June 19 Southwest Michigan – Delightful Weather Is Upon Us

Currently 64 degrees with a WSW wind of 7 mph barely felt and leaving the temperature alone to be what it is. Dew Point 59, Humidity 82%, Barometer 29.76 & rising, Visibility 10 mi. A mix of sun and clouds for us today, a stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 74. W winds 10 – 20 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with the same chance of a stray shower or t-storm possible. Low 57. W winds 10 – 20 mph.

It’s absolutely perfect this morning. Feels cool and fresh. Loving the windows open again with the heat cleared out and A/C off. Not a single thing to complain about with this weather. It’s ideal.  Yesterday a front moved through and gave the heave-ho to the heat and humidity and everyone simply stopped, inhaled, feeling the difference almost immediately. Perks the spirits right up, this clear, clean weather. Makes you feel like you could – or should – be doing something constructive.

So I guess my task for the day, should I decide to accept it, is to sally forth and be constructive.

Sunday, June 18 Southwest Michigan – Wishing Happy Father’s Day To All Dads

Sunday, June 18 Southwest Michigan – Wishing Happy Father’s Day To All Dads

Currently 69 with an average wind of SW 14 mph not doing much to that number. Dew Point 68, Humidity 98%, Barometer 29.50, Visibility 8 mi. Going to be a mostly cloudy day with gusty winds. The possibility of a stray shower or thunderstorm popping up. High 78. WSW winds 20 – 30 mph.

A few passing clouds tonight, low 58. W winds 10 – 20 mph.

Got another 1.27″ of rain since yesterday and there are still possibilities of some areas along the rivers flooding out a bit. Guess that’s the way it goes, no rain and  too much rain. Never a happy medium in the mix. Personally, I’m thrilled we’re getting this much rain. It was crisping up out there and that’s never good.

Been watching the fireflies flitting around among the tree leaves at night. They don’t seem to mind the rain and they are lovely to watch.

I hope all who are fathers enjoy their special day. Have a good one.

Saturday, June 17 Southwest Michigan – Finally Some Significant Rain

Saturday, June 17 Southwest Michigan – Finally Some Significant Rain

Currently 68 with an ESE wind of 6 mph not toying with that number. Dew Point 66, Humidity 98%, Barometer 29.67 & falling, Visibility 7 mi. After a cloudy morning we’ll have an 80% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. A few storms could be severe. High 79. SW winds 10 – 20 mph.

60% chance of overnight scattered showers and t-storms. Again, a few could be severe. Low 65. SSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Wow! Found a rain gauge half full this morning.  2.85″ of rain in there. It was wonderful waking up just a little before 5:00 this morning listening to some thunder wandering in, a flash or two of rain, and the – whoa! – a gully-washer. And it didn’t let up. It rained, and I mean hard, for what seemed like an hour. Then it continued off and on all through the wee hours of the morning until I finally heard the thunder drift off into the distance. We’ve been in sore need of rain for awhile now, can’t even remember the last time we’ve had rain like this. Of course, because of the amount of it in such a short time, we now have some flood alerts out for those folks up and down the rivers in this area. There is a very real possibility of more rain today and tonight, so greening back up will be the name of the game for awhile. Much appreciated, too.

Friday, June 16 Southwest Michigan – Continued Warm With A Chance Of Thunderstorms

Friday, June 16 Southwest Michigan – Continued Warm With A Chance Of Thunderstorms

Currently 67, feeling like 67 with a SSW wind of 7 mph. Dew Point 64, Humidity 95%, Barometer 29.81 & rising, Visibility 10 mi. Mostly cloudy with with a 40% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. High 84. WSW winds 10 – 20 mph.

50% chance of overnight thunderstorms. Low 67. SSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Feeling summery with that constant chance of some  showers or thunderstorms cropping up almost every day. Give us some hot temperatures, toss in some sunshine with a mix of a few clouds, and watch those chances of storms start to peculate. Only received .02″ last night. Barely enough to make the pavement look a little damp. Not enough for the grass though. Still waiting for relief in that area. Bound to get here eventually.

Thursday, June 15 Southwest Michigan – Still In Need Of Rain

Thursday, June 15 Southwest Michigan – Still In Need Of Rain

Currently 70 and feels exactly like 70 with a light SW wind of 9 mph. Dew Point 67, Humidity 90%, Barometer 29.81 & rising, Visibility 10 mi. Cloudy skies this morning with the slight chance of a shower showing up, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. High 84. WSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

A few passing clouds with a very slight chance of a stray shower popping up tonight. Low 63. WSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Well, last evening’s storm passing overhead – that everyone had so looked forward to – was as ‘ol Will would have described it, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Plenty of thunder and lightening, about a dozen drops of rain. Actually .20″ which, as dry as everything is, did precious little toward helping to green the grass back up. Not to get too eager, but it does appear as if Friday night, maybe Saturday we have a better chance at some rain. Can only hope so. We really need it.

Wednesday, June 14 Southwest Michigan – Hot With A Chance Of T-Storms Moving Through

Wednesday, June 14 Southwest Michigan – Hot With A Chance Of T-Storms Moving Through

Currently 72 with an ESE wind of 8 mph not messing with that number. Still feels like 72. Dew Point 65, Humidity 78%, Barometer 29.95 & rising, Visibility 10 mi. Should end up near 90 degrees today with a 60% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. SSE winds of 10 – 15 mph.

80% chance of thunderstorms tonight.  A few of the storms  could be severe. Low 68. SSE winds 10 – 15 mph.

Never did get any rain yesterday and had a lovely day. Hot, but lovely. Today should be as warm but more of a chance of t-storms cropping up. Especially tonight. We sure do need the rain.  The so-called grass is looking more crispy and tending more to brown than green. Would be lovely not to get the severe along with the precipitation, but I reckon we will take what we get and make the best of it.

Tuesday, June 13 Southwest Michigan – Hot With A Chance Of T-Storms

Tuesday, June 13 Southwest Michigan – Hot With A Chance Of T-Storms

Currently 70 degrees with a NW wind of 5 mph feeling almost non existent and not messing with the temperature number at all. Dew Point 65, Humidity 86%, Barometer 29.96 & rising, Visibility 10 mi. Should be a mix of sun and clouds today with a 60% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. High 85. E winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy skies with the chance of a stray t-storms cropping up. Low 64. E winds 10 – 15 mph.

Feeling sticky and close today out there. Happy for the A/C inside – see, I knew I would be. Heading to Lansing today and I’ll likely be lugging a light rain jacket along as there is a good chance of thunderstorms there, too. Might need it. Might not. Oh well….

What a huge part of the nation resting under that enormous red blob of a heat wave. Amazing. Trouble is, we’ve gone from a cooler than normal spring into – whap! – hit hard with some pretty serious high heat. No easing into this. Bad timing or scheduling on somebody’s part.

But it is feeling summery, that’s for sure.

Monday, June 12 Southwest Michigan – Going To Be Hot Again

Monday, June 12 Southwest Michigan – Going To Be Hot Again

Currently 81 degrees feeling like 83 with a SW wind of 15 mph. Dew Point 63, Humidity 54%, Barometer 29.92 & rising, Visibility 10 mi. Reaching for a high of 89 with the possibility of a stray thunderstorm cropping up. WSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with an 80% chance of thunderstorms. Low 69. NW winds shifting to ENE 10 – 15 mph.

Swell….the one day I have plans to be out and about in an outdoor setting? Tomorrow. Guess when we’re expecting thunderstorms. Right. Tomorrow. Can’t win. Peering ahead, it looks as if this sweep of hot air is going to keep the atmosphere irritated just enough to give us a chance of storms all week. I don’t mind at all, long as I’m home. It’s the out and about times I’m not crazy about. Alas….

Sunday, June 11 Southwest Michigan – A Hot, Sunny Sunday

Sunday, June 11 Southwest Michigan – A Hot, Sunny Sunday

Currently 77 degrees with a SW wind of 17 mph stirring things up but not affecting the numbers, so it feels like 77. Dew Point 60, Humidity 54%, Barometer 29.97 & rising, Visibility 10 mi. Heading to close to 90 today with a partly cloudy sky. SW wind 15 – 25 mph.

Clear skies tonight, low 71. SSW winds 10 – 20 mph.

Still have an Air Quality Alert In Effect. Our bad, heavy air is going to hang in here for the duration, I believe. Not bad unless you have a tendency to cough, sneeze, get chocked up out there. Which, I sort of do, just a bit, will all the allergens floating around in the air. Alas….

I have to admit, I cheat with the A/C thing. I do. I have the A/C on and everything is closed up – except for my bedroom where the window is still open. I get that fresh air during the night, maybe a little warm that air, but still….and it makes me happy. I have the best of all possible worlds. And having this window open doesn’t seem to bother the A/C much, if at all. So be it.

All in all, a pretty summery day out there. Nice.
